Villa Ballester
Villa Ballester is a city located in the northern Greater Buenos Aires urban area and it is part of the General San Martín Partido in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It is served by the Línea Mitre commuter railway with its station also named Villa Ballester. Founded on 26 October 1889. History Pedro Ballester (4 December 1849 – 5 September 1928) started the development of the town in the late 1880s in some fields occupied by his family, the chacra Miguel Ballester y Flotat. A key factor for the success of the new town was the train which provided fast access to Buenos Aires. The town was named after the commercial partnership between Pedro Ballester and Guillermo Lacroze, "Sociedad Villa Ballester". Education Hölters Schule, a German school, is in Villa Ballester. Greater Buenos Aires ( es, Gran Buenos Aires, GBA), also known as the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area ( es, Área Metropolitana de Buenos Aires, AMBA), refers to the urban agglomeration comprising the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires and the adjacent 24 '' partidos'' (districts) in the Province of Buenos Aires. José Hernández (born José Rafael Hernández y Pueyrredón; November 10, 1834 – October 21, 1886) was an Argentine journalist, poet, and politician best known as the author of the epic poem ''Martín Fierro''. Biography Hernández, whose ancestry was Spanish, was born on a farm near San Martín (Buenos Aires Province). His father was a majordomo or foreman of a series of cattle ranches. Helmut Ditsch (born July 6, 1962) is an Argentine painter. Ditsch's work focuses on extreme natural phenomena such as mountains, desert, ice, and water. Life He was born in Villa Ballester, in the province of Buenos Aires, to grandparents from Austria and Germany, including northern Italian origins, who had immigrated to Argentina in 1920. The early death of the artist's mother, and with it the theme of life and death, impacted his work. Carlos Pablo Ripamonte (Buenos Aires, May 4, 1874 – Villa Ballester, August 14, 1968) was an Argentine painter. Early life and artistic formation Carlos Ripamonte was born in Buenos Aires to Mateo Ripamonte, an Italian immigrant, and Mercedes Toledo, an Argentine from Córdoba. Ripamonte began his artistic studies under portraitist Juan Bautista Curet Cenet, later attending the studio of Italian painter Miguel Carmine.
