Vikram Nair
Vikram Nair ( ta, விக்ரம் நாயர்; born 1978) is a Singaporean politician and lawyer. A member of the governing People's Action Party (PAP), he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) representing the Admiralty division of Sembawang GRC since 2011. Education Nair was educated at Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) and Raffles Junior College before graduating from the Trinity College at the University of Cambridge under the Jardine Foundation Scholarship, where he read law. He was awarded the college's Lizette Bentwich Prize for Law in 2002. He served as Director of Debating at the Cambridge Union Society between 2001 and 2002, and was ranked the No. 3 individual speaker at the 2002 World Universities Debating Championship in Toronto, Canada. Singapore Democratic Party
The Singapore Democratic Party ( abbreviation: SDP) is a politcal party in Singapore. The party was founded on 6 August 1980 by Chiam See Tong. During the 1991 general election, Ling How Doong and Cheo Chai Chen won Bukit Gombak SMC and Nee Soon SMC respectively, giving the party a total of three seats in Parliament. When Chiam fell out with the party's Central Executive Committee in 1993 and subsequently left the party in 1996 for the splinter Singapore People's Party (SPP), the party became destabilised. Chiam was succeeded by Chee Soon Juan, who has remained as Secretary-General ever since. A centrist to centre-left political party, the SDP ideologically draw upon both liberalism and social democracy. Khaw Boon Wan
Khaw Boon Wan (; born 8 December 1952) is a Singaporean former politician who served as Minister for Transport between 2015 and 2020, Minister for National Development between 2011 and 2015, and Minister for Health between 2003 and 2011. 2011 Singaporean General Election
General elections were held in Singapore on 7 May 2011. President S. R. Nathan dissolved parliament on 19 April 2011 on the advice of Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong. Voting is mandatory in Singapore and is based on the first-past-the-post system. Elections are conducted by the Elections Department, which is under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister's Office. Nomination day was held on 27 April 2011, and for the second election in a row, the PAP did not return to government on nomination day, but it did return to government on polling day.
