Vietnam Colony (1994 Film)
''Vietnam Colony'' is a 1994 Indian Tamil-language comedy film directed and co-written by Santhana Bharathi. It is a remake of the 1992 Malayalam film of the same name which itself was based on the 1983 Scottish film '' Local Hero''. The film stars Prabhu, Goundamani and Vineetha. It revolves around two men trying to persuade some colony residents to relocate to another location for the sake of a corporate project, but the residents, and some goons, oppose them. ''Vietnam Colony'' was released on 15 July 1994. Plot Venkatakrishnan, hailing from an orthodox Brahmin community, gets a job with Calcutta Constructions as its supervisor. Santhana Bharathi is an Indian film director and actor who has primarily worked in Tamil cinema. Career Santhana Bharathi originally wanted to be a director but didn't get the right opportunity, even after working for a well known director like C. V. Sridhar. At the time, he had been looking for offers with his friend P. Vasu. Finally, they got a movie called ''Panneer Pushpangal'' in the year 1981. It was a success. Uday Prakash was an Indian actor who starred in Tamil and Telugu films. He was a football player (team captain) at Sacred Heart College, Tirupattur. Career Uday Prakash became famous as he acted in a very important role in Telugu blockbuster '' Karthavyam'' starring Vijayashanti. Panchanathan Arunachalam (22 March 1941 – 9 August 2016) was an Indian writer, director, producer and lyricist who worked in Tamil cinema. He was mentored by poet Kannadasan who was his uncle. He also worked as a lyricist in the Tamil cinema industry. He started producing films under his production banner named P. A. Arts. His son Subbu Panchu Arunachalam is an actor and dubbing artist in the Tamil film industry. Pulavar Pulamaipithan (6 October 1935 – 8 September 2021) was an Indian scholar, poet and lyricist who got recognition through the song "Naan yaar nee yaar" which was featured in the Tamil film ''Kudiyirundha Koyil'' in 1968. He briefly served as the presidium chairman of AIADMK from 2002 to 2003, when he resigned citing ill-health. Biography Pulamaipithan was born in Irugur, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu on 6 October 1935.
