Vienna Independent Shorts
Vienna Shorts (formerly known as VIS Vienna Independent Shorts) is an international short subject, short film festival held annually in May in Vienna. It is the largest short film festival in Austria. History Vienna Independent Shorts was held in 2004 for the first time. Several Viennese institutions active in the promotion of short films arranged one day of the one-week event. The festival program consisted of 125 short films. Among the venues that have been used continuously since the first festival edition are the Top Kino and the Reformed Church. Since 2005, the festival is hosted the Independent Cinema Association which was founded by the organizers of the first festival edition. For the first time an international competition with 64 films was held. Annually recurring festival events, which were introduced in 2005, are a retrospective of the University of Applied Arts Vienna and a Kino (movement), Kino Kabaret. Hubert Sielecki
Hubert Sielecki (born 6 November 1946 in Rosenbach, Carinthia) is an Austrian artist, primarily known for his animated films. Biography In 1985 he founded the Austrian chapter of the International Animated Film Association (ASIFA). In 1990–1991 he was a lecturer for film at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig. From 1986 to 1991 he was a member of film promotion boards in Austria. Sielecki is also a board member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus. In 2007, on the occasion of the studio's 25th anniversary, he created the Hubert Sielecki Prize in several categories for artistic and experimental short film or animation for young Austrian filmmakers. The 2008 UEFA European Football Championship, commonly referred to as UEFA Euro 2008 or simply Euro 2008, was the 13th UEFA European Championship, a quadrennial football tournament contested by the member nations of UEFA (the Union of European Football Associations).
