Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association
The Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association (VSDCA) is a turf cricket competition based in Melbourne, Australia. There are 32 clubs each fielding four teams (one per grade) plus an under 15 (formerly under 14) team in the annual J.G Craig (formerly R.M. Hatch) shield competition, which is regarded as the premier competition for the future of Victorian cricket. There are four divisions (North, South, East, West). In first and second grade these divisions rotate annually to ensure every club plays each other at least once every three years. In third and fourth division these do not change and the two 'leagues' are South-East and North-West. Cricket
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Brunswick Cricket Club
The Brunswick Cricket Club is based in Melbourne, Australia. The club was founded over 150 years ago and currently fields four senior men's teams in the Victorian Sub-District Cricket Association along with a senior women's team, all abilities and numerous junior sides. History 1857–1900: Formation Brunswick Cricket Club was conceived during a meeting at the Cumberland Arms Hotel on November 23, 1857, after an advertisement in the Argus newspaper asked for men interested in playing cricket. After playing informally against Yarra (Heidelberg), Williamson Alliance and Phoenix Park the club began formally in official competitions in 1901. Victorian Premier Cricket
Victorian Premier Cricket is a club cricket competition in the state of Victoria administered by Cricket Victoria. Each club fields four teams (firsts through to fourths) of adult players and usually play on weekends and public holidays. Matches are played on turf wickets under limited-time rules, with most results being decided on a first-innings basis. Outstanding players in the competition are selected to play for the Victorian Bushrangers at first-class and List A level, in the Sheffield Shield and Marsh One Day Cup competitions respectively. The competition commenced in the 1906–07 season when it was known as "District cricket", and was renamed in 1990. Separate competitions for one-day matches (2002–03) and Twenty20 (2005–06) were later established. Cricket Victoria
Cricket Victoria (CV) is the governing body for the sport of cricket in the Australian state of Victoria. It was formed on 29 September 1875 as the Victorian Cricket Association. It is integrated with the Victorian Women's Cricket Association to include funding, programs, office accommodation and staff assistance. As of 2019, CV administered the 1,065 cricket clubs and 448,000 registered cricketers in Victoria, who compete across 75 cricket competitions. It employs well over a hundred full time and part time staff, and is responsible for offering professional and semi-professional contracts to several dozen of its male and female cricketers. CV also administers the Victorian men's and women's representative teams, and the Victorian Premier Cricket competitions.
