Victorian Health Promotion Foundation
The Victorian Health Promotion Foundation is a statutory authority in the Australian state of Victoria, originally funded by hypothecated taxation raised by the ''Victorian Tobacco Act 1987''. It was the first health promotion body in the world to be funded by a tax on tobacco. Better known as VicHealth, the organisation has a mandate to promote good health for all Victorians. Sir Gustav Nossal
Sir Gustav Victor Joseph Nossal (born 4 June 1931) is an Austrian-born Australian research biologist. He is famous for his contributions to the fields of antibody formation and immunological tolerance. Early life and education Nossal's family was from Vienna, Austria. He was born four weeks prematurely in Bad Ischl while his mother was on holiday. His family left their home town of Vienna for Australia in 1939 following Nazi Germany's annexation of Austria. As his father's grandparents were Jewish, he was also considered Jewish and at risk of being sent to concentration camps. Rhonda Galbally AC has been a CEO, Chair and board member for over thirty years, across business and the not for profit sector, the public sector and philanthropy. As a woman with a lifelong disability, Galbally first began focusing on disability rights and policy in the early 1980s while working as the senior policy officer for the Victorian Council for Social Services. Rob Moodie (born 1953, c. Melbourne) is the Professor of Global Health at the Nossal Institute of Global Health at the University of Melbourne and was named Victorian Father of the Year in 2005. He is married and has two children. He graduated in medicine at the University of Melbourne in 1976, and has also studied Tropical Medicine at Paris University and Public Health at Harvard University.
