Victoria Social Association
The Victoria Social Association (HKVSA) was a local political group based in Central and Western District and Wan Chai District, the former area of the Victoria City founded in April 2016. The association won one seat in Wan Chai in 2019 District Council election. History The association was founded in April 2016 by Chow Sai-kit, who was a former member of the pro-independence Youngspiration. Chow ran in the 2015 District Council election in Kennedy Town & Mount Davis but failed to win a seat. In the 2019 District Council election, four members of the association ran in the election, while only two of them ran under the banner of VSA. Chow himself ran as a substitute candidate for independent Fergus Leung Fong-wai in case Leung was disqualified from running in Kwun Lung. Pro-democracy Camp
The pro-democracy camp, also known as the pan-democracy camp, is a political alignment in Hong Kong that supports increased democracy, namely the universal suffrage of the Chief Executive and the Legislative Council as given by the Basic Law under the "One Country, Two Systems" framework. The pro-democrats generally embrace liberal values such as rule of law, human rights, civil liberties and social justice, though their economic positions vary. They are often referred to as the "opposition camp" as they have consistently been the minority camp within the Legislative Council, and because of their non-cooperative and sometimes confrontational stance towards the Hong Kong and Chinese central governments. Hong Kong had a multi-party system, with numerous parties in which no one party was allowed to gain power by controlling the Legislative Council. The Chief Executive is selected by the Politburo based on an indirectly elected Election Committee and is ''de facto'' pro-Beijing but ''de jure'' is said to be nonpartisan as specified in the Chief Executive Election Ordinance. Once selected, the Chief Executive forms an unelected government which superficially has to rely on political parties in the legislature for support, but the legislature has been deliberately designed and redesigned to be a pro-Beijing rubber stamp body. Hong Kong has no legislation for political parties, and thus has no legal definition for what a political party is. The National Anthem Ordinance is an ordinance of Hong Kong intended to criminalise "insults to the national anthem of China" ("March of the Volunteers"). It is a local law in response to the Law of the People’s Republic of China on the National Anthem (the National Anthem Law). Chinese Communist Party General Secretary Xi Jinping made a speech regarding the national anthem legislation in early 2017. The ordinance commenced on 12 June 2020. Pang Ka-ho
Jordan Pang Ka-ho (; born 1998) is a Hong Kong District Councillor. He was a student leader and served as the Vice-President (External) of the Hong Kong University Students' Union (HKUSU) and Acting Chairperson of the Current Affairs Committee, HKUSU Council.
