Victor Delhez
Victor Delhez (March 16, 1902– January 4, 1985), best known for his woodcut engravings, was born in Antwerp, Belgium, and died in Mendoza, Argentina, Mendoza, Argentina. Life Early life and education Delhez was one of seven children. He studied at Royal Academy of Fine Arts (Antwerp), Antwerp's Royal Academy of Fine Arts from 1916-1918 and at the Catholic University of Leuven (1834–1968), University of Leuven from 1918–1923, graduating as an agronomist with chemistry as his primary subject. Career Delhez began exhibiting caricatures and surrealist work while in college. Taking up a role as manager of his family's car company, he continued his artistic interests, publishing a series of prints in 1925. In 1925, Delhez's parents died in a road accident. He left his job as manager of his father's motorcar company and moved to Argentina, working as a draughtsman, architect and contractor in Buenos Aires from 1926–1933. Lorenzo Domínguez (Santiago de Chile 1901-Mendoza, Argentina 1963) was a prolific Latin American sculptor whose art is a deliberate and personal synthesis of pre-Columbian and Rapa Nui (Easter Island) aesthetics with a European artistic formation. Introduction Lorenzo Domínguez's art is the antithesis of the idea of "autochthony" and "cultural unity". In fact, his life of constant and lasting migrations across continents and through multiple countries could be used as an example of the limitations of a nationalistic approach to the history of art. He was born in Santiago de Chile in 1901. He spent his childhood and adolescence in Santiago, but as a child he stayed for a whole year at a boarding school in Málaga, in southern Spain.
