Vibes (film)
''Vibes'' is a 1988 American romantic adventure comedy film directed by Ken Kwapis and starring Cyndi Lauper, Jeff Goldblum, Julian Sands and Peter Falk. The plot concerns Sylvia, an eccentric psychic, and Nick, her equally odd psychic friend and their trip into the Ecuadorian Andes to find the "source of psychic energy". Plot Sylvia Pickel (pronounced with an emphasis on the "kel") is a trance-medium who has contact with Louise, a wisecracking spirit guide. She first began communicating with her after falling from a ladder at 12 and remaining comatose for two weeks. Subsequently, Louise taught her astral projection while she was placed in special homes for being "different." Ken Kwapis
Kenneth William Kwapis (born August 17, 1957) is an American film and television director, screenwriter, and author. He specialized in the single-camera sitcom in the 1990s and 2000s and has directed feature films such as '' Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird'' (1985), ''The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants'' (2005), and '' He's Just Not That Into You'' (2009). Personal life Kwapis was born in East St. Louis, Illinois, and grew up in neighboring Belleville. He is the son of Marge () and Bruno Walter Kwapis, who was an oral surgeon.
