VfR Frankenthal () is a German sports club in Frankenthal, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany. Creation VfR Frankenthal was created through the mergers of several clubs. FC 1900 Frankenthal was the first club and was created on June 22, 1990. FC 1900 Frankenthal later became VfB 1900 and merged with FV Palatia 1902 to form FV 1900/02. Frankenthal
Frankenthal (Pfalz) ( pfl, Frongedahl) is a town in southwestern Germany, in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. History Frankenthal was first mentioned in 772. In 1119 an Augustinian monastery was built here, the ruins of which — known, after the founder, as the ''Erkenbertruine'' — still stand today in the town centre. In the second half of the 16th century, people from Flanders, persecuted for their religious beliefs, settled in Frankenthal. They were industrious and artistic and brought economic prosperity to the town. Some of them were important carpet weavers, jewellers and artists whose ''Frankenthaler Malerschule'' ("Frankenthal school of painting") acquired some fame. In 1577 the settlement was raised to the status of a town by the Count Palatine Johann Casimir. In 1600 Frankenthal was converted to a fortress. The Germany Olympic football team represents Germany in international football competitions in Olympic Games. It has been active since 1908, and first competed in 1912. Olympic football was originally an amateur sport, and as the pre-World War II German national team was also amateur, it was able to send a full national team to the games. After the war, Germany was divided, but until 1964 East and West competed under the name of " United Team of Germany", although without a combined squad. From 1968 West Germany began to compete on its own, but were still forced to send an amateur team, who were not able to match the success of their professional counterparts in the World Cup and European Championship. Paul Oßwald
Paul Oßwald (4 February 1905 – 10 November 1993) was a German former football player and manager. As manager of Eintracht Frankfurt he won the German championship in 1959. Career Early career, 1918–28 Paul Oßwald began as a youth player at local club VfL Saalfeld/Thüringen. At Minerva 93 Berlin he played as a senior player in the midfield. He graduated at the German sport academy and took the examination as a sports teacher. The then German national manager Otto Nerz discovered his ability for team leading and managing and connected him to Eintracht Frankfurt in 1928.
