Vestergade 58 is a listed building in Aarhus, Denmark. Architecture Vestergade 58 is a large half-timbered merchants house from 1761 consisting of six individual structures arranged in a square with only one building being visible from the street. Gnags
Gnags is a Danish rock band from Skjern formed by Peter A. G. Nielsen and his brother Jens G. Nielsen in 1966. History The band started playing regularly in 1968 after winning the Danish national championship in "beat music". Their championship title paved the way for the band's first two single recordings, "Eyes and Ears" and "I Can't Talk About It Now". Sven Fenger left the band in 1969, after which Gnags continued as a trio, playing Danish festivals and in Amsterdam. The band moved to Aarhus in 1971 and joined a commune. There they recorded their first album, ''Paa Vej'', which was released in 1973. The band had financed the album out of their own pockets, and they sold the distribution rights to the record producer and musician Johnny Reimar. Struggling to find a record label, Gnags created Genlyd Records in 1974. Ivan Oehlenschaeg Sørensen joined the band in 1973 and Per Christian Frost in 1974. Henning Stærk
Henning Stærk (born 20 March 1949) is a Danish singer and musical-performer. Henning Stærk was born in Holstebro on 20 March 1949. He started his musical career in Holstebro but later moved to Aarhus where he became involved in the local music scene. Henning Stærk started singing with his childhood friend Palle Thy Christensen but was quickly contacted by the local rhythm´n´blues band Beat Stones. The band debuted on 18 September 1965 and was renamed to Road Runners. The band dissolved around one year later and several members moved to Holstebro's leading band The Poisons, which in 1967 became number two in a music competition. In 1967 the band published the single "Reach out I´ll be there // Call my name". The group played together until 1969 when Stærk and two other band members created the group ''Chapter Three''. Thomas Helmig
Thomas Helmig (born 15 October 1964) is a Danish rock singer and musician, and has been one of the most popular singers in Denmark since the middle of the 1980s. Biography Thomas Helmig was born and grew up in Egå, a suburb of Aarhus, where his father was a doctor. His parents divorced when he was quite young. To escape from the feelings associated with his parents' divorce, Thomas took refuge in music, most notably he spent much time teaching himself to play the piano. At the age of 10, inspired by the Danish Band Gasolin, popular in the 70's, Thomas formed his first band and named it Heavy Oil. The following years he also learned to play the guitar and drums. Jens Dyhr Okking, (18 December 1939 – 21 January 2018) was a Danish actor, singer and politician. Jens Okking was mostly known outside of Denmark from Lars von Triers TV-series '' The Kingdom''. In Denmark, Okking was a notable actor for many years, both in theatre, films and TV series and he also worked as theatre director. Apart from his acting, Okking performed as a singer throughout his career, including many recordings with a variety of musicians, mainly from Denmark. He also used his voice to record several audiobooks, mostly for children, and in radio plays for the Danish Broadcasting Corporation (DR). Jazz Club
A jazz club is a venue where the primary entertainment is the performance of live jazz music, although some jazz clubs primarily focus on the study and/or promotion of jazz-music. Jazz clubs are usually a type of nightclub or bar, which is licensed to sell alcoholic beverages. Jazz clubs were in large rooms in the eras of Orchestral jazz and big band jazz, when bands were large and often augmented by a string section. Large rooms were also more common in the Swing era, because at that time, jazz was popular as a dance music, so the dancers needed space to move. Roof pitch is the steepness of a roof expressed as a ratio of inch(es) rise per horizontal foot (or their metric equivalent), or as the angle in degrees its surface deviates from the horizontal.
