Aníbal Verón
Aníbal Verón was a bus driving, driver from Salta, Argentina. On 10 November 2000 he was protesting together with other workers from his company, who had been fired with unpaid salaries seven months overdue. The protest was harshly repressed, and Verón (aged 37 at the time) was shot and murder, killed. Since then, Verón became a political martyr for the unemployed workers of Argentina. Pierre Véron (born 20 July 1947) is a French lawyer and specialist in the field of patent litigation. Professional career After his call to the Bar in 1969, Véron founded, in 1971, the business law firm Lamy, Véron, Ribeyre & Associés in Lyon, France. Véron joined the Paris Bar in 1996. In 2001, he established Véron & Associés in Paris and Lyon, a law firm devoted exclusively to the practice of patent litigation. Véron’s experience in cases involving large French and international entities led him to be the first to appear before a French court to plead cases relating to a European patent (1990), a nanotechnology patent (2003) and the infringement of a molecular biology patent (2007). Since 2007, Véron has served as an expert with the European Commission for projects involving the European Union patent court. Pierre Véron (19 April 1831, Paris - 3 November 1900, Paris) was a French writer, journalist, and librettist. Life In 1854 he published his first book, a volume of verse, and went on to write for and edit many prominent journals of the day. In the latter part of the 19th century he served as the editor-in-chief of both ''Le Charivari'' and ''Journal Amusant''. He was the author of numerous fiction and non-fiction books chronicling and often satirizing the social mores of Parisian life. For many years his rooms in the Rue de Rivoli were the gathering place of French literary, artistic and political figures. Véron had a keen interest in the theatre, both as a critic and as a playwright. He was the librettist for three works by Robert Planquette and was the co-author (with Edmond Gondinet) of several plays, including ''Les Affolés'', a four-act comedy which premiered at the Théâtre du Vaudeville in 1883. Philippe Véron (2 March 1939 – 7 August 2014) was a French astronomer. He worked at Observatoire de Haute Provence, where he was director from 1985 to 1994. He studied variability and statistics of quasars, as well as elliptical galaxies. He was married to French astronomer Marie-Paule Véron-Cetty, and together with her compiled and maintained thVeron-Cetty Catalog of Quasars and Active Galactic Nuclei whose thirteenth edition was published in 2010. At the time of his death, he was working on the ''Dictionnaire des Astronomes Français 1850–1950'' (Dictionary of French astronomers 1850–1950), which is a biographical encyclopedia. Mauricio Rodrigo Verón (born 3 July 1977) is an Argentine footballer who plays for Concepción FC in Argentina. Career Verón started his senior career with Argentino de Rosario in 1998. In 2000, he moved to Córdoba-based Club Atlético Belgrano, where he spent the 2000–2001 season, his sole one in Primera División. He then signed for South Korean top flight team Ulsan Hyundai. Louis-Désiré Véron (1798 in Paris – September 27, 1867 in Paris) was a French opera manager and publisher. Biography Véron originally made his fortune from patent medicines. In 1829 he founded the literary magazine '' Revue de Paris'', and from 1838 to 1852 was owner and director of ''Le Constitutionnel'', in which he published Eugene Sue's novel based on the legend of the '' Wandering Jew''. It was also during Véron's direction and at his suggestion that Sainte-Beuve contributed the ''Causeries du lundi'', an early example of the regular newspaper column. He is largely known to history for his direction, from 1831-1835, of the Paris Opera. The new government, after the July Revolution of 1830, wished to offload the costs and responsibilities of the Opera, which had been effectively state-controlled since its inception. Juan Sebastián Verón (; born 9 March 1975) is an Argentine former professional footballer and current chairman of Estudiantes de La Plata, where he had served as Director of Sports. A former midfielder, Verón's career started in Estudiantes, continued in Argentina's Boca Juniors, and included stints in several clubs in the Italian Serie A (where he won the '' Scudetto'' with Lazio and with Internazionale, and a UEFA Cup with Parma), and England's Manchester United and Chelsea. Juan Ramón Verón (; born 17 March 1944) is an Argentine football coach and former professional player. He played as a midfielder or forward most notably for Estudiantes, where he won three consecutive Copa Libertadores titles. He is the father of former player Juan Sebastián Verón. Veron, and in other writing as Charlie Veron, is a biologist, taxonomist, and specialist in the study of corals and reefs. He is believed to have discovered more than 20% of the world's coral species.
