Veneto First
Veneto First (''Prima il Veneto'', PiV) was a Venetist and separatist political party active in Veneto. The party was formed in August 2013 as a faction within Liga Veneta– Lega Nord (LV–LN) by some Venetists and old-guard '' Bossiani'' who opposed Flavio Tosi's leadership of the party and disagreed with his support for a united Italy. Those notably included two former deputies ( Corrado Callegari and Paola Goisis), two regional councillors ( Giovanni Furlanetto and Santino Bozza), a provincial minister of Venice and the former LV–LN provincial secretary of Venice ( Paolo Pizzolato). All five but Callegari had been ejected from the party by Tosi in April, even though Furlanetto had been later reintegrated. Venetian Nationalism
Venetian nationalism (also Venetism, from the Venetian/Italian name, ''venetismo'') is a nationalist, but primarily regionalist, political movement active mostly in Veneto, Italy, as well as in other parts of the former Republic of Venice. Generally speaking, Venetists promote the distinct Venetian identity and the rediscovery of the Republic of Venice's heritage, traditions, culture, and language and/or demand more autonomy or even independence for Veneto from Italy. According to journalist Paolo Possamai, Venetism is "the strain of Veneto and Venetians toward the recognition of their identity and autonomy". Venetism is a broad movement, which definitely includes Venetist parties, notably Liga Veneta, but also encompasses people from several political parties. 2010 Venetian Regional Election
The Venetian regional election of 2010 took place on 28–29 March 2010, as part of Italy's big round of regional elections. Luca Zaia, rising star of the Northern League, was elected President by a landslide. With the support of 60.2% of Venetians, he was the most voted President of Veneto since direct election was introduced in 1995. Liga Veneta became the largest in the region with 35.2%. The total score of Venetist parties (also including North-East Union, Party of the Venetians, Venetian National Party and Liga Veneto Autonomo) was 37.6%, the highest so far. The People of Freedom of the outgoing President Giancarlo Galan came second with 24.7% of the vote and the Democratic Party third with 20.3%. Regional Council Of Veneto
The Regional Council of Veneto (''Consiglio Regionale del Veneto'') is the regional parliament of Veneto. The Council, which has its seat at Palazzo Ferro Fini, located along the Grand Canal in Venice. was first elected in 1970, when ordinary regions were established, twenty-two years after the Italian Constitution envisioned them in 1948. Composition The Regional Council of Veneto (''Consiglio Regionale del Veneto'') is composed of 51 members. 49 councillors are elected in provincial constituencies by proportional representation using the largest remainder method with a Droop quota and open lists, while the remaining two are the elected President and the candidate for President who comes second. Mira, Veneto
Mira is a ''comune'' (municipality) in the southern Veneto, northern Italy. It is part of the Metropolitan City of Venice and the 11th most populous comune of Veneto. It is situated on the Riviera del Brenta, midway between Padua and Venice and it is crossed by SR11 Regional road. 2017 Italian Local Elections
The 2017 Italian local elections were held on Sunday 11 June. If necessary, a run-off vote was held on Sunday 25 June. The term of mayors and councils will last five years, unless an early election is triggered. In the autonomous regions of Trentino-Alto Adige/Südtirol and Aosta Valley the elections will be held on 7 May. Venetian Independence
Venetian Independence ( it, Indipendenza Veneta, vec, Independensa Vèneta, IV) is a Venetist, liberal and, to some extent, libertarian political party active in Veneto. The party seeks to achieve full political independence for the former territories of the Venetian Republic from Italy through a referendum. Alessio Morosin
Alessio Morosin (born 20 June 1955 in Noale) is an Italian lawyer and politician. He joined Liga Veneta–Lega Nord in the early 1990s and was elected to the Regional Council of Veneto at the 1995 regional election. He made his name in Venetist circles for being the author of resolution 42/1998 (title: "Yesterday's and today's peoples and the right to self-determination"), concerning the "self-determination" of the Venetian people. The resolution read: "The Venetian people €¦invokes its right to a democratic and direct referendum for the free expression of its right to self-determination". The resolution was approved by a majority vote in the Council on 22 April 1998.
