Alessandra Moretti
Alessandra Moretti (born 24 June 1973 in Vicenza) is an Italian politician who has been serving as a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. Early life and education Moretti graduated in law at the University of Urbino and has worked as a divorce lawyer since 2001. Political career Since her young age, Moretti was interested in politics, following her father, who had been active in the Italian Communist Party. She first entered politics with the Democrats of the Left. After some failed electoral campaigns (notably including that of the 2007 provincial election of Vicenza, on a list in support of Giorgio Carollo of Veneto for the EPP), in 2008 Moretti, who joined the Democratic Party (PD), was elected to the municipal council of Vicenza and was appointed Deputy Mayor with delegation for education and youth. 2013 Italian General Election
The 2013 Italian general election was held on 24 and 25 February 2013 to determine the 630 members of the Chamber of Deputies and the 315 elective members of the Senate of the Republic for the 17th Italian Parliament. The centre-left alliance Italy Common Good, led by the Democratic Party (PD), obtained a clear majority of seats in the Chamber of Deputies thanks to a majority bonus that effectively trebled the number of seats assigned to the winning force and narrowly defeated the centre-right alliance of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi in the popular vote. The Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety (ENVI) is a committee of the European Parliament. It has 81 full members and is currently chaired by Pascal Canfin. The 2019 European Parliament election was held between 23 and 26 May 2019, the ninth parliamentary election since the first direct elections in 1979. Lega Nord (; acronym: LN), whose complete name is (), is a right-wing, federalist, populist and conservative political party in Italy. 2015 Venetian Regional Election
The Venetian regional election of 2015 took place in Veneto on 31 May 2015, as part of a big round of regional elections in Italy. Venetian voters elected their President and their Regional Council, whose members had been reduced to 51, including the President. Luca Zaia, incumbent President (elected in 2010 with 60.2% of the vote) and leading member of the Northern League (LN), was re-elected by a reduced majority, due to a split occurred within his party in the run-up of the election, but, despite this, his victory over Alessandra Moretti of the Democratic Party (PD), who fared quite badly, was still a landslide: 50.1% to 22.7%.
