Alajuela Province
Alajuela () is a province of Costa Rica. It is located in the north-central part of the country, bordering Nicaragua to the north. San Carlos is a canton in the Alajuela province of Costa Rica. The capital city of the canton is Ciudad Quesada. History San Carlos was created on 26 September 1911 by decree 17. Toponymy The name of Aguas Zarcas, comes from the hot spring waters that could well be called "Aguas de azul suave". Sarchí is a canton in the Alajuela Province, Alajuela province of Costa Rica. The head city is in Sarchí Norte District, Sarchí Norte district. Toponymy The ''Sarchí'' word means ''Open Field'' in the Huetar language of the Huetar people that once inhabited the area.
