Velizar Simeonovski
Velizar Simeonovski ( bg, Велизар Симеоновски; born 14 February 1968 in Borovan, Vratsa Province, Bulgaria) is a wildlife artist and zoologist from Bulgaria who is living and working in the United States. His main interest is the paleoart, the scientific illustration and artistic reconstruction of extinct species and the visualization of primeval landscapes. Simeonovski uses computer programs to create his drawings. He is married and has two sons. Since 2003, he works for the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Illinois. Career In 2010, Simeonovski was a member of the artistic designer team of the exhibition ''Mammoths and mastodons: titans of the Ice Age'' in the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, where he created an artistic rendering of Lyuba, the currently most completely preserved woolly mammoth calf. Tsingy Wood Rail
The Tsingy wood rail (''Mentocrex beankaensis'') is a species of bird in the family Sarothruridae that was scientifically described in 2011. It is endemic to areas with dry deciduous forest and limestone karst in the lowlands of west-central Madagascar. It is larger than the Madagascar wood rail, and also differs in the colour of the throat, moustachial stripe and region near the eyes. ''Apomys'', commonly known as earthworm mice, is a genus of rodent endemic to the Philippines. Mice belonging to this genus are generally called Philippine forest mice and can be found on most islands of the Philippines except in Palawan, the Sulu Archipelago, and the Batanes and Babuyan group of islands. ''Apomys'' mice weigh from 18g to 128g. The tail is longer or nearly equal the length of the head and body. The soft and thick fur of these mice is darker on the back while the front fur is paler, often nearly white with a moderate orange yellow wash. ''Calciavis'' is an extinct genus of bird from the Eocene of Wyoming. It is a lithornithid, a member of a lineage of flying palaeognaths, distantly related to modern ratites. Like many other fossils from the Green River Formation, it is exceptionally well preserved, bearing soft-tissue impressions of skin and feathers. Yoshi (genus)
''Yoshi'' is an extinct genus of machairodontine sabertooth cat in the tribe Metailurini. Its fossils were described from Turolian deposits from the Miocene epoch of the Balkan Peninsula in 2014 and specimens from China once thought to belong to ''Metailurus''. The name comes from that of the lead author's pet cat. It has been described as potentially being synonymous with ''Metailurus'', though this is difficult to confirm at present. ''Panthera zdanskyi'', also known as the Longdan tiger, is an extinct pantherine species that is seen as a close relative of the modern tiger. Fossils were excavated in northwestern China's Gansu province. Etymology ''Panthera zdanskyi'' was first named by Ji H. Mazák, Per Christiansen and Andrew C. Kitchener in 2011.
