Vectorman
''Vectorman'' is a 2D action platformer developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega. The game was released for the Sega Genesis in late 1995 in North America and Europe. It was considered a critical and commercial success, achieving its dual goal of retaining interest in the aging Sega Genesis platform in face of the increasingly popular new technology of the next generation of video game consoles and providing competition to industry competitor Nintendo's popular ''Donkey Kong Country'' video game. In subsequent decades, the game was re-released across many Sega-themed video game compilations, and on its own across the Wii Virtual Console, Steam, and the Sega Forever line of mobile game releases. ''Vectorman 2'' is a 2D action platformer developed by BlueSky Software and published by Sega. Released just a year after the original ''Vectorman'', the game retains the game's core gameplay while expanding its mechanics. While multiple sequels were planned or proposed, no further entries in the series have surfaced to date. Gameplay The gameplay is similar to the first ''Vectorman'' game. The game plays as a 2D action platformer. The player maneuvers the main character, Vectorman through levels by running and jumping, and attacking enemies primarily through shooting projectile attacks. The game consists of 22 levels; more than the original game's 16, but levels in the game are generally shorter and smaller than ones found in the original. ''Donkey Kong Country'' is a 1994 platform game developed by Rare and published by Nintendo for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES). It is a reboot of Nintendo's ''Donkey Kong'' franchise and follows the gorilla Donkey Kong and his nephew Diddy Kong as they set out to recover their stolen banana hoard from the crocodile King K. BlueSky Software was an American video game developer based in California. Formed in 1988, BlueSky closed in March 2001, when parent company Titus Interactive was in financial trouble. Mark Lorenzen
Mark Lorenzen (born 1965) is a video game designer and entrepreneur. Biography Lorenzen was born in Virginia. He got primary education from Huntington Beach High School, and later attended Point Loma Nazarene University, finishing with a Bachelor's Degree in Visual Art. Career Lorenzen first entered the video game industry by joining Blue Sky Software in the early 90s. While there, he served as design director on such games as Jurassic Park, Vectorman and Ren & Stimpy: Stimpy's Invention. After leaving Blue Sky in 1995 Lorenzen joined Shiny Entertainment, working on Earthworm Jim 2. One of the levels he designed was named "Lorenzen's Soil" in his honor. In 1996 a handful of Shiny members formed The Neverhood, Inc. (further history could be read here). The Neverhood included mark's brother Tim, who worked at 7th Level. Sega Forever is a service from the Japanese video game developer Sega for re-releasing past games from the company on modern platforms. The service was launched for Android and iOS devices on June 22, 2017. By 2020, the service included over 30 games. Background Sega Forever is a service by Sega to re-release their previously developed video games on Android and iOS-based platforms. Games included on the service are free to play, although they display with advertisements that can be permanently disabled per-game by purchasing them.
