Vasil Garvanliev
Vasil Garvanliev ( mk, Васил Гарванлиев; born 2 November 1984) is a Macedonian singer. He is also known mononymously as Vasil. He was due to represent North Macedonia with the song " You" in the Eurovision Song Contest 2020 in Rotterdam before the event was cancelled. Instead, he represented North Macedonia in the 2021 contest, this time with the song " Here I Stand". Beginnings Child singer Garvanliev started singing at the age of seven. He was discovered by a Macedonian composer who was passing by when he heard Vasil singing in the street. Vasil Chekalarov
Vasil Hristov Chekalarov ( Bulgarian/ mk, Васил Христов Чекаларов) or Vasil Tcakalarov (22 February 1874 – 9 July 1913) was a Bulgarian revolutionary and one of the leaders of Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organisation in Macedonia. H. N. Brailsford described Chekalarov as the "cruel but competent general" of the Bulgarian insurgents in Macedonia. Despite his Bulgarian self-identification, and the fact he considered the adherents of Macedonist ideas to be Grecomans, per post-WWII Macedonian historiography he was an ethnic Macedonian. He was a leading '' komitaji'' in the bands of the Bulgarian Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Committees and took part in the battles against the Ottoman authorities as well before the Ilinden Uprising as after it. Vasil Iljoski ( mk, Васил Иљоски, (December 20, 1902 - November 1, 1995) was a Macedonian writer, dramatist, professor and an important figure in Macedonian literature, especially in Macedonian drama between the two World Wars. Biography Vasil Iljoski was born in Kruševo in 1902. He has finished his elementary education in the town of Kumanovo, where he moved in his early childhood. During that period, he has helped his father in their family business, but he did not accept it as his future profession. Iljoski finished secondary school in Kumanovo and enrolled at the Faculty of Philosophy in Skopje. At the beginning of his career, he worked as a teacher in the City Gymnasium in Kumanovo. Vasil Todorov Gyuzelev ( bg, Васил Тодоров Гюзелев, born 19 October 1936) is a Bulgarian historian who studies Bulgaria during the Middle Ages. Biography Gyuzelev was born in the village of Rakovski (today part of Dimitrovgrad) in 1936. Between 1954 and 1959 he studied history and archaeology in the Sofia University and then worked for a short time in the Museum of History in Dimitrovgrad. Vasil Stoyanov Staykov (December 24, 1880 – November 14, 1909) known as Vasil Adzhalarski, was a Macedonian Bulgarian revolutionary, an Internal Macedonian-Adrianople Revolutionary Organization (IMARO) leader of revolutionary bands in the regions of Skopje and Kumanovo. Biography Vasil Stoyanov was born in 1880 in the village of Adzhalari, in the Sanjak of Üsküp of the Kosovo Vilayet of the Ottoman Empire (present-day North Macedonia). He received his nickname after this village, which is now known as Miladinovci. In 1901 he moved with his family in Skopje. Vasil Uladzimiravič Bykaŭ (often spelled Vasil Bykov, be, Васі́ль Уладзі́міравіч Бы́каў, russian: Василь Влади́мирович Быков) (19 June 1924 – 22 June 2003) was a prolific Soviet and Belarusian author of novels and novellas about World War II and a significant figure in Soviet and Belarusian literature and civic thought. Vasil Georgiev Bozhikov ( bg, Васил Георгиев Божиков; born 2 June 1988) is a Bulgarian professional footballer who captained his latest club - Fortuna Liga club Slovan Bratislava and plays for the Bulgarian national team. Vasil Kanchov ( bg, Васил Кънчов, Vasil Kanchov) (26 July 1862 – 6 February 1902) was a Bulgarian geographer, ethnographer and politician. Biography Vasil Kanchov was born in Vratsa. Upon graduating from High school in Lom, Bulgaria, he entered the University of Harkov, then in Russia. During the Serbo-Bulgarian War 1885 he suspended his education and took part in the war. Later, he went on to pursue studies at universities in Munich and Stuttgart, but in 1888 he interrupted his education again due to an illness. Vasil Iliev ( bg, Васил Илиев; January 22, 1965 – April 25, 1995) was a Bulgarian mobster, businessman and wrestler. Background Vasil Iliev was born in 1965 in Kyustendil, Bulgaria. He was a very successful wrestler, becoming a national champion and heading the country's wrestling federation.
