Phil Varone (ice Hockey)
Philip Varone (born December 4, 1990) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward who is currently playing with HC Spartak Moscow in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Varone was selected by the San Jose Sharks in the fifth round (147th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. Playing career Amateur Varone played major junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) from 2006–07 to 2010–11, collecting 78 goals and 152 assists for 230 points in 228 games. Professional Varone attended the San Jose Sharks training camp in 2010, but was sent down to London for the season. By July 2011, the Sharks had not signed Varone to a contract, making him a free agent. Varone attended the Buffalo Sabres training camp in 2011, but did not make the team. He instead signed a one-year AHL contract with the Sabres' affiliate Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL). He led Rochester in scoring with 11 goals and 41 assists. Phil Varone
Phil Varone (born October 15, 1967) is an American drummer. He is a founding and former member of the band Saigon Kick from 1988–1996 and from 2012–2015. While out of Saigon Kick for several years, some of which Saigon Kick wasn't active, he played for Prunella Scales, Skid Row, and Vince Neil. Career Music Varone began playing in various local bands while still in high school in Fort Lauderdale. In 1988, he joined together with some of his friends and formed Saigon Kick. The band signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records after two years. They earned a Gold Record for the album, ''The Lizard'' as well as a Billboard top 10 single for the song, "Love is On the Way". In 1996, Saigon Kick disbanded and Varone stayed busy producing and doing studio work for a variety of artists. In 2000, Varone joined multi-platinum recording artists Skid Row. His company, Doug Varone and Dancers, has been performing for over three decades. Education Varone received his BFA from Purchase College, where he was awarded the President’s Distinguished Alumni Award in 2007. Choreography Varone created many works for the concert dance stage.
