Vanquish (video Game)
is an action third-person shooter video game developed by PlatinumGames and published by Sega for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 video game consoles. It began development in 2007 and was released worldwide in October 2010. A Windows port was released on May 25, 2017. A compilation called ''Bayonetta & Vanquish 10th Anniversary Bundle'' that includes remastered versions of PlatinumGames' ''Vanquish'' and ''Bayonetta'' was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on February 18, 2020. The game is notable for introducing several innovations to the 3D shooter genre, including a fast-paced style of gameplay reminiscent of 2D bullet hell shooters, beat 'em up elements, and an original sliding-boost mechanic. It received a positive critical reaction upon release, with critics praising the game's fast-paced action, innovations to the shooter genre, boss battles and visual style, while criticizing the game's writing, voice acting and overall short length of the campaign. ''Play'' is a monthly magazine produced by Future Publishing in the United Kingdom, which reports on Sony's PlayStation product range. It had been published by Imagine Publishing but closed in 2016. It was resurrected as a replacement for the official UK PlayStation magazine in May 2021. Before it originally closed, it had become the UK's longest-running PlayStation magazine. Issue 269, the magazine's final printed edition was published in April 2016 when it become a digital only publication for a short time. As well as being sold in the UK, ''PLAY'' is also sold in Australia. In video games, the term destructible environment, or deformable terrain, refers to an environment within a game which can be wholly or partially destroyed by the player. It may refer to any part of the environment, including terrain, buildings and other man-made structures. A cover system is a video game gameplay mechanic that allows a virtual avatar to hide from and avoid dangers, usually in a three-dimensional world. Quick Time Event
In video games, a quick time event (QTE) is a method of context-sensitive gameplay in which the player performs actions on the control device shortly after the appearance of an on-screen instruction/prompt. It allows for limited control of the game character during cut scenes or cinematic sequences in the game. In video games, a boss is a significant computer-controlled opponent. A fight with a boss character is commonly referred to as a boss battle or boss fight.
