Vanessa Peters
Vanessa Peters (born September 16, 1980) is an American singer and songwriter. Biography Peters grew up in Dallas, Texas. She studied English and Creative Writing at Texas A&M University to pursue her original intent to obtain an MFA in Creative Writing and pursue a career as a novelist. Upon graduation, she moved to Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy for a year, where she learned to play guitar and began writing songs. She started playing music professionally in 2003. Career 2003–2010 In 2003, Peters released her first album, ''Sparkler.'' Thr following year she embarked on a solo cross-country tour. In January 2006, she recorded her first album with the band Ice Cream on Mondays, ''Thin Thread''. The collaboration produced three albums and numerous tours across Europe and America in which Peters was usually accompanied by the band's lead guitarist, Manuel Schicchi. The Polyphonic Spree is an American choral rock band from Dallas, Texas that was formed in 2000 by singer/songwriter Tim DeLaughter. The band's pop and rock songs are augmented by a large vocal choir, and instruments such as flute, trumpet, french horn, trombone, violin, viola, cello, percussion, piano, guitars, bass, drums, electronic keyboards, and EWI. History DeLaughter's previous group, Tripping Daisy, came to an abrupt end in 1999 when guitarist Wes Berggren died of a drug overdose. The Polyphonic Spree was formed, in part, in reaction to Berggren's death. In 2000, DeLaughter collaborated with 12 other musicians to put together a sound that reflected the music he grew up with. The Deathray Davies
The Deathray Davies are an indie rock band from Dallas, Texas. The band's name is a reference to Ray Davies, the lead vocalist of The Kinks. History The band was formed as a solo side project for the Dallas musician John Dufilho, who sent in a demo tape to the 1999 SXSW performance. He recruited friends from other local Dallas bands in order to perform. Originally from San Antonio, Dufilho and Jason Garner played together in a band called Thirteen (with Chris Smart and Chris Brinkley) and together as a three-piece fuzz-pop band called Bedwetter (with Colin Jones from Big Drag). Old 97's is an American rock band from Dallas, Texas. Formed in 1992, they have since released twelve studio albums, two full extended plays, shared split duty on another, and have one live album.
