Erwin Vandenbergh
Erwin Vandenbergh (; born 26 January 1959) is a Belgian retired football who played as a forward. Between 1979 and 1991, he finished six times topscorer of the Belgian First Division (a record as of 2020), with three clubs (the first three with Lierse, the following two with Anderlecht, and the last one with Gent). In 1980, he was European topscorer with 39 goals out of 34 games. As a Belgium national team regular, Vandenbergh scored a memorable victory goal against Argentina in the opening game of the 1982 World Cup in Spain. Vandenbergh also played for the French club Lille with his Belgian national team partner Filip Desmet under the management of another fellow Belgian Georges Heylens. John Vandenbergh
John Vandenbergh is an Emeritus Professor of Zoology at North Carolina State University in the United States. He attended Montclair State University in New Jersey, earning a BA in 1957, then Ohio University in 1959 with an MS in Zoology, and received his PhD from Pennsylvania State University in 1962. His research focused on the effects of prenatal hormone exposure and endocrine disruption on rodent behaviour, physiology and anatomy. He has previously advised the Environmental Protection Agency on endocrine disrupters such as Bisphenol A (BPA). After receiving his PhD, Vandenbergh served as a research scientist with the National Institutes of Health in Puerto Rico from 1962-1965, studying rhesus monkeys, before moving to work for the North Carolina Department of Mental Health in Raleigh. Kevin Vandenbergh (; born 16 May 1983) is a Belgian former professional footballer who plays as a forward for Ramsel in the Belgian Provincial Leagues. His father, Erwin Vandenbergh, was one of the most prolific strikers in the 1980s for Belgium. He also earned some caps with Belgium and the Belgian U21 team, with his debut in the national side in 2004. Coaching career Vandenbergh worked as a coach for Matthews Soccer Club in Charlotte, North Carolina from 2006 to 2007. In 2008, she was an assistant coach at Charlotte Christian School, while also serving as a volunteer assistant coach for the Florida State Seminoles. Vandenbergh Effect
The Vandenbergh effect is a phenomenon reported by J.G. Vandenbergh ''et al.'' in 1975, in which an early induction of the first estrous cycle in prepubertal female mice occurs as a result of exposure to the pheromone-laden urine of a sexually mature (dominant) male mouse. Physiologically, the exposure to male urine induces the release of GnRH, which provokes the first estrus. The Vandenbergh effect has also been seen with exposure to adult female mice. When an immature female mouse is exposed to the urine of mature female mouse, estrus is delayed in the prepubertal female.
