Vandanam
''Vandanam'' () is a 1989 Indian Malayalam-language romantic comedy film directed by Priyadarshan, written by V. R. Gopalakrishnan, and produced by P. K. R. Pillai. The film stars Mohanlal and Girija Shettar, while Mukesh and Nedumudi Venu appear in supporting roles. The songs were composed by Ouseppachan, while the background score was by Johnson. Priyadarshan remade the film in Telugu as '' Nirnayam'' (1991) with Sukumari reprising her role. The film is based on the 1987 American film ''Stakeout''. A comedy sequence from this movie was reported to be re-used by Priyadarshan in the 2021 Hindi film ''Hungama 2''. Plot Professor Kurian Fernandez, a convict, escapes from jail along with Raghu, his cellmate. After a failed attempt to chase and nab the duo, the officials draw up several plans to capture both. Girija Shettar
Girija Shettar (born 20 July 1969) is a British actress, known for her works in South Indian films. In 1989, Shettar starred in Maniratnam's Telugu film '' Geethanjali'' and Malayalam film ''Vandanam'', directed by Priyadarshan, in which she starred alongside Mohanlal. In 1992, she signed for the lead female role in ''Jo Jeeta Wohi Sikandar'', which she left mid-way to complete a prior commitment. Ayesha Julka replaced her after the first schedule. In the same year, she starred in another Telugu film '' Hrudayanjali'', under the direction of A. Raghurami Reddy, which won four Nandhi Awards by Government of Andra Pradesh. Priyadarshan
Priyadarshan (born 30 January 1957) is an Indian film director, screenwriter and producer who works predominantly in Malayalam and Hindi films, while also having done six films in Tamil and two films in Telugu. He has done about 31 films in Hindi alone, the highest number of films done by any Hindi film director after David Dhawan. He was one of the first directors in India to introduce rich color grading, clear sound and quality dubbing through his early Malayalam films. Priyadarshan has also directed many advertisement films. ''Nirnayam'' () is a 1991 Indian Telugu-language action drama film directed by Priyadarshan in his Telugu debut, produced by D. Sukumari
Sukumari Amma (6 October 1940 – 26 March 2013) was an Indian actress best known for her works in Malayalam and Tamil films. In a career spanning more than five decades, She has appeared in more than 2500 films predominantly in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, along with few Hindi and one each in Sinhala, French, Bengali, Tulu, English and Kannada films.
