Vance Heafner
Clayton Vance Heafner Jr. (August 11, 1954 – September 26, 2012) was an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, the Nationwide Tour and the Champions Tour. Early life Heafner was born in Charlotte, North Carolina. He was the son of professional golfer Clayton Heafner and Mary Ellen Allen. The family moved to Cary, North Carolina where he attended Cary Elementary School and Cary High School. He attended North Carolina State University and was a three-time All-American member of the golf team. Heafner played on the 1977 Walker Cup team, winning all three of his matches to help lead the U.S. to victory, and turned professional in 1978. Career Heafner played in 266 events on the PGA Tour from 1978–1988, making the cut 157 times. Walker Cup
The Walker Cup is a golf trophy contested in odd-numbered years by leading male amateur golfers in two teams: United States, and Great Britain and Ireland. The official name is the Walker Cup Match (not "Matches" as in Ryder Cup Matches). It is organised by The R&A and the United States Golf Association (USGA). In 1921 the Royal Liverpool Golf Club hosted an unofficial contest which was followed by official annual contests from 1922 through 1924. From 1925 they became biennial, held on even-number years. After World War II they switched to odd-numbered years. They are held alternately in the U.S., and Ireland or Britain. The PGA Championship (often referred to as the US PGA Championship or USPGA outside the United States) is an annual golf tournament conducted by the Professional Golfers' Association of America. Masters Tournament
The Masters Tournament (usually referred to as simply The Masters, or the U.S. Masters outside North America) is one of the four major championships in professional golf. Scheduled for the first full week of April, the Masters is the first major of the year, and unlike the others, it is always held at the same location, Augusta National Golf Club, a private course in the city of Augusta, Georgia, in the southeastern United States. The Masters was started by amateur champion Bobby Jones and investment banker Clifford Roberts. Rex Caldwell
Rex Allen Caldwell (born May 5, 1950) is an American professional golfer who played on the PGA Tour, Nationwide Tour and Champions Tour. Caldwell was born in Everett, Washington. He attended San Fernando Valley State College. He turned professional in 1972. Caldwell played on the PGA Tour from 1972 to 1990. His best year in professional golf was 1983 when he teamed with John Cook to win at the World Cup. He also had six top-10 finishes that year in PGA Tour events which included a win at the LaJet Coors Classic and four solo 2nd or T-2 finishes. His best finish in a major was third place at the 1979 PGA Championship. He has more than $1.3 million in career earnings. Caldwell also played on what is now the Nationwide Tour in the 1990s. Chip Beck
Charles Henry "Chip" Beck (born September 12, 1956) is an American golfer who was a three-time All-American at the University of Georgia. He has four victories on the PGA Tour and twenty runner-up finishes. He spent 40 weeks in the top 10 of the Official World Golf Rankings between 1988 and 1989. Beck was born in Fayetteville, North Carolina. He was the runner-up at the 1993 Masters Tournament, and was tied for runner-up at the 1986 and 1989 U.S. Open championships. He is also noted for his stellar play at the 1991 Ryder Cup held at the Kiawah Island Golf Resort and is a three-time Ryder Cup participant, also playing in 1989 and 1993 at The Belfry Golf & Country Club in Sutton Coldfield, England.
