Porter Cup
The Porter Cup is a 72-hole, medal-play elite amateur golf tournament held annually at the Niagara Falls Country Club in Lewiston, New York. It was first played in 1959 and over the years has hosted some of the biggest names in golf. Past champions include PGA Tour stars Phil Mickelson, David Duval, Scott Verplank and Ben Crenshaw. An amateur () is generally considered a person who pursues an avocation independent from their source of income. Amateurs and their pursuits are also described as popular, informal, autodidacticism, self-taught, user-generated, do it yourself, DIY, and hobbyist. Taylor Pendrith
Taylor Pendrith (born May 30, 1991) is a Canadian professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He won twice on PGA Tour Canada in 2019. Amateur career Pendrith attended Kent State University from 2010 to 2014. He made the cut in the 2014 Canadian Open and was the low amateur. He was part of the Canadian team that finished second, behind the United States, in the 2014 Eisenhower Trophy. Professional career Pendrith turned professional in late 2014, after the Eisenhower Trophy. In 2015 he played mostly on PGA Tour Canada. He was runner-up three times and finished third in the Order of Merit to earn a place on the Web.com Tour. Casey Wittenberg
Casey Wittenberg (born November 30, 1984) is an American professional golfer who had a successful amateur career. Wittenberg was born in Memphis, Tennessee. He played collegiately at Oklahoma State University. He lost to Nick Flanagan in the finals of the 2003 U.S. Amateur. In 2004, he finished 13th at the Masters Tournament, the lowest amateur finish in 41 years. He was the only player in the field to improve his score each round. Additionally, he registered the lowest Sunday back 9 score (31) of any amateur in Masters history. Spencer Joseph Levin (born June 15, 1984) is an American professional golfer who currently plays on the Korn Ferry Tour. Early years and amateur career Levin was born in Sacramento, California, the son of Carlene (Rossi) and Don Levin. His mother is a cousin of football official Mike Pereira. Levin attended the University of California, Los Angeles before transferring to the University of New Mexico, where he was a two-time All-American. While at New Mexico, Levin played with future PGA Tour professionals Michael Letzig and Wil Collins. Seungsu Han (born September 10, 1986) is an American professional golfer who plays on the Japan Golf Tour. He won the 2017 Casio World Open and the end-of-season 2020 LG Signature Players Championship on the Korean Tour. Amateur career Han was born in South Korea. Brian Harman (born January 19, 1987) is an American professional golfer who plays on the PGA Tour. He is one of the few ambidextrous players on tour. Amateur career In college, Harman was a three-time 2nd Team All-American on the University of Georgia golf team. He won the 2005 NCAA Preview and the 2006 Isleworth Invitational. Adam Mitchell (born February 16, 1987) is an American professional golfer. Amateur career Mitchell was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and went to the University of Georgia. Brendan Gielow
Brendan Gielow (born October 24, 1987) is an American professional golfer. Personal life Gielow was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the son of Eric and Renea Gielow. He graduated from Mona Shores High School in 2006, after moving as a child from Grand Rapids. In his tenure at Mona Shores, he played four years on the varsity golf team; in which he was named Mr. Golf (award given to the top high school golfer in the state) twice. He was also named to the Michigan Super Team, the All-State golf team, all four years he played. That distinction being that he is first and only person to earn that honor all four years of high school and as a freshman.
