Cornelis Reinier "Kees" van Kooten () (born 10 August 1941) is a Dutch comedian, television actor, and writer. He formed the duo Van Kooten & De Bie with Wim de Bie from 1972 to 1998. Biography Cornelis Reinier van Kooten was born on 10 August 1941 in The Hague, Netherlands. He is the oldest child of Cornelis Reinier van Kooten en Anna Geertruida Snaauw. He has one sister, Anke, who is a year younger. He met his wife Barbara Kits in 1959 and married her on 18 October 1968. After their marriage they moved from The Hague to the polder village of Zuidoostbeemster, where their two children were born, Kasper in 1971 and Kim in 1974. She is the author of the script of the very successful Dutch movie ''Alles is Liefde'' (''Everything is Love''), and won a Golden Calf for Best Actress in ''Phileine Says Sorry'' (2003), and for Best Scenario with ''Met grote blijdschap'' (2001). Life and work Van Kooten grew up in Zuidoostbeemster. She is the daughter of Kees van Kooten and Barbara Kits. Her brother is the actor and singer Kasper van Kooten. Dr. Theodorus van Kooten (Leeuwarden, 22 October 1749 – Bennebroek, 1 February 1813) was a Dutch poet, professor and politician. Van Kooten was the son of the sexton at Leeuwarden, and amazed all visitors to his father's house by translating randomly selected pieces from the Greek bible into Dutch. Van Kooten became Kampen's rector in 1772. From 1784, he was professor of Latin language and history at the College of Franeker. He had to take forced redundancy from there in 1787 due to his Patriot sympathies. He remained he in exile in Saint-Omer until 1795, where he wrote Latin poems. Van Kooten was - together with Wybo Fijnje and Samuel Iperusz Wiselius - a member of the committee for the deconstruction of the VOC (Dutch East India Company).
