Vampires (Dukes Song)
"Vampires" is a pop/rock track by New Zealand rock band the Dukes. It's the first single to be taken from the Dukes forthcoming sophomore LP "''Still Life''", after the band decided against including their two previous singles on this release. Song information "Vampires" was originally released as a digital download single on June 26, 2009 and then re-released online January 24, 2010. The song was nominated at the APRA Silver Scroll Awards for New Zealand’s most prestigious songwriting award. "Vampires" was performed live on the TV3 New Zealand 2009 Telethon "The Big Night In" on August 8, 2009. An acoustic version of "Vampires" was included on their first acoustic EP, "Settle Down - Acoustic EP". The Dukes are a five-piece rock band from Christchurch, New Zealand. Their debut album, ''Lil Sunshine'', was released in 2005. Their second album, ''Still Life'', was released in 2010 throughout New Zealand spawning the Gold certified Top 10 single "Vampires". Music career Early beginnings The Dukes formed in early 2003 as a result of a band name change. Formerly known as Deluxeboy. Juice TV
Juice TV, previously Juice, originally was a 24-hour music television channel operating from the Auckland suburb of Parnell in New Zealand. The channel closed on 15 May 2015 and relaunched as a 30-minute-long programme on Garage. The channel then relaunched independently from Garage on Freeview and its own online broadcast. History Juice originally launched as Juice TV on the ''Sky Orange'' channel which aired on Sky's UHF pay TV service, starting in 1994. In 1997, the channel began broadcasting 24 hours a day. The Juice TV Awards was an annual New Zealand music video award presentation held by the now defunct New Zealand music video channel Juice TV (later Juice). The awards were founded in 2001 and initially honoured music videos from both New Zealand and international acts, however in 2004 the awards were limited to New Zealand artists only. Finalists were selected by Juice, with the winners chosen by public vote. No ceremony was held in 2009 and the 2011 awards was the final holding. Juice closed in 2015. C4 was a New Zealand television channel owned and operated by MediaWorks New Zealand. C4 was available on both digital terrestrial and satellite platforms and played music around the clock, including from their radio side from The Rock, The Edge, The Breeze, More FM, George FM, Mai FM & The Sound. C4 also aired a lot of speciality music shows such as ''HomeGrown'', ''Top 10/100'', ''Video Hits'', ''Fade To Black'', ''Steel Mill'' and ''Biggest Records Right Now''. ''Still Life'' is the second album of rock band Dukes, and was released on November 8, 2010 through Play Nicely. The album features three singles, the gold NZ Top 10 hit "Vampires", "Self Control" and "Time is a Train". Background The album was recorded at York St Studios & Studio 203 in Auckland, New Zealand. It was produced by Godfrey De Grut, Andrew Buckton & Dukes and engineered and mixed by Andrew Buckton. All songs were written by lead singer Matt Barus.
