Valmy, Nevada
Valmy is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, Nevada, United States, named after the Battle of Valmy in France. The Lone Tree gold-mining complex is located adjacent to I-80; mining ended there in 2007, though a small gold resource remains in place there. In 2021, Nevada Gold Mines sold the mine to i-80 Gold, who hope to process ore there. The Marigold mine is located further south of I-80 and has been in production since 1989. Valmy is also home to the North Valmy Generating Station, jointly owned by NV Energy and Idaho Power. Valmy has a post office, with the ZIP code 89438. As of the 2010 census, the community had a population of 37. History Established in 1910 by the Southern Pacific Railroad as a section point, it became Valmy on March 24, 1915. Marigold Mine
The Marigold gold mine is an open pit gold mine in Valmy, Nevada, west-northwest of Battle Mountain. The mine is owned and operated by SSR Mining Inc. Gold mineralization at Marigold is finely disseminated within sedimentary and metasedimentary rocks, including limestone, siltstone, breccias, meta-basalts and quartzite. The mining operation comprises 11 open pits, eight waste rock stockpiles, three leach pads, two carbon-in-leach processing facilities and a carbon processing and refining facility. , the mine had Proven and Probable Reserves of 201.5 million tonnes at an average gold grade of 0.47 g/t, for 3.3 million ounces of gold. Eric Meola
Eric Meola (born 1946 in Syracuse, New York) is an American photographer. He graduated from Syracuse University in 1968 and is self-taught in the art of photography. In New York he apprenticed under photographer Pete Turner, who influenced Meola's use of saturated color and graphic design. In 1971, Meola opened a studio and began working for popular magazines such as ''Life'', ''Esquire'', and ''Time,'' shooting editorial photos. Stone House, Nevada
Stone House is a ghost town in Humboldt County, Nevada, United States. A. Woodward, one of the signers of the 1851 " Washoe Code" that dealt with early land claims, was killed near this location in the autumn of 1851. Woodward had partnered with George Chorpenning on a monthly mail contract. Woodward was killed while fulfilling that contract. A post office was located in Stone House from 26 November 1890 to 24 March 1915, when it was moved to Valmy, Nevada. Note that there are at least two other locations named Stone House in Nevada. One in Nye County and another located in the Osgood Mountains of Humboldt County.
