Valley High School (Ohio)
Valley High School (VHS) is a public high school in Lucasville, Ohio in Scioto County in Southern Ohio. It is the only high school in the Valley Local School District. Their nickname is the Indians, and their colors are purple and gold. Campus The high school building is located on a large property adjacent to the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility. The Valley Elementary School building sits on the same property northeast of the high school building. The local Kiwanis group assisted in the setting up of playground equipment on the side of the elementary building. Both the high school and elementary were built in 1992-1993 and were scheduled to begin holding classes after the Easter break in the spring of 1993. However, a prisoner uprising on Easter Sunday at the Southern Ohio Correctional Facility, commonly referred to as the Lucasville Prison Riot, prevented the opening of the buildings. Glenwood High School (GHS) is a public high school in New Boston, a village located in Scioto County in the southern part of the U.S. state of Ohio. It is the only high school in the New Boston Local School District. Their mascot is the Tiger, and their colors are scarlet and gray. History The New Boston School District consisted of three schools until recently. The buildings constructed in the early 1900s included Stanton Elementary, Oak Street Intermediate, and Glenwood Junior-Senior High School. Glenwood housed grades 7-12, yet it was once the only school in the district and housed all grades. In 2008, voters of New Boston approved a 7.61 mil levy to build a new $20 million Pre-K through 12 school building on #1 Glenwood Tiger Trail, which used to be Lakeview Avenue. Clay Junior-Senior High School is a public high school in Clay Township, Ohio, United States, located four miles (6 km) north of the Portsmouth in Scioto County. It is the only high school in the Clay Local School District. Clay is a rural high school serving about 300 students in grades 7–12 in Southern Ohio. The first class graduated in 1940. The county is named for explorer Zebulon Pike. Brief history Symmes Valley High School was created with the consolidation of Waterloo High School (Waterloo Wonders), Windsor High School, and Mason-Aid High School. Lawrence County, Ohio
Lawrence County is the southernmost county located in the U.S. state of Ohio. As of the 2020 census, the population was 58,240. Its county seat is Ironton. The county was created in 1815 and later organized in 1817. It is named for James Lawrence, the naval officer famous for the line "do not give up the ship". Lawrence County is part of the Huntington–Ashland metropolitan area.
