Valletta Waterfront
The Valletta Waterfront, is a promenade in Floriana, Malta, mainly featuring three prominent buildings: a church in the middle, the Pinto Stores or the ''Pinto Wharf'' on the left, and the Forni Stores or the ''Forni Shopping Complex'' on the right. The buildings were originally stores and warehouses, built in the 18th century, and the design is attributed to Andrea Belli. The building project was officiated on 10 August 1752, with a mass festivity. The ''Forni Stores'' were used as the first British naval bakeries in Malta and were used for this function until 1844. The area is now a hub in Malta's cruise liner business as the ''Forni Cruise Passenger Terminal'', and hosts a concentration of bars, retail outlets, and restaurants. Valetta, New Zealand
Valetta is a lightly populated locality in the mid-Canterbury region of New Zealand's South Island. It is located in an agricultural area on the southern side of the Ashburton River / Hakatere. Another river, the Hinds River, is to Valetta's southwest. Nearby settlements include Mount Somers to the northwest, Anama to the west, Mayfield to the southwest, and Punawai to the southeast. Its name is a misspelling of Valletta, the capital of Malta. Valetta was formerly served by the Mount Somers Branch, a branch line railway that diverged from the Main South Line at Tinwald, New Zealand, just south of Ashburton. On 3 October 1882, the Westerfield to Anama section of the line opened with a station in Valetta. Anthony Valletta (21 December 1908 – 8 December 1988 in Birkirkara, Malta) was a well known teacher, lepidopterist and naturalist. He was a Fellow of the Royal Entomological Society. He wrote several books on nature in the Maltese Islands, such as ''Know the Trees'' and ''Know the Birds''. He also discovered a sub-species of moth which has been named after him - '' Pterolonche vallettae''. His collection of butterflies and insects was the largest in Malta. He was one of the first people in Malta to start a public consciousness to protect the island's environmental heritage. Vittorio Valletta (28 July 1883 in Sampierdarena – 10 August 1967 in Foccette di Pietrasanta) was an Italian industrialist and President of Fiat from 1946 to 1966. Born at Sampierdarena, near Genoa, Valletta was a lecturer in economics before he joined Fiat in April 1921: as a result of his academic qualifications and background he was often known to colleagues and in the trade as "Il Professore". He became director in 1928 and CEO in 1939. In the upheavals that followed the collapse of the Mussolini regime, Valletta found himself expelled from the company by the powerful unions which considered that he had been sympathetic to the Fascist regime. The Vickers Valetta is a twin-engine military transport aircraft developed and produced by the British manufacturing company Vickers-Armstrongs Ltd. Developed from the Vickers VC.1 Viking compact civil airliner, it was an all-metal mid-wing monoplane with a tailwheel undercarriage.
