Valladolid Science Museum
Valladolid Science Museum ( es, Museo de la Ciencia de Valladolid) was opened in May 2003 as a museum and an iconic piece of architecture based on an old flour mill. Rafael Moneo and Enrique de Teresa used a lot of the old industrial complex to create this new Science Museum. Description This municipal museum was designed by the architects Rafael Moneo and Enrique de Teresa with the help of Francisco Romero and Juan Jose Echevarria. The museum is to the south west of the city on the right bank of the River Pisuerga with an emblematic footbridge it is seen as a symbol of the city and for the region of Castilla y León. North Plaza Pío del Río Hortega was born in the city and after qualifying as a doctor went on to investigate what are now called neurons. He was responsible for discovering microglia. The Renault Valladolid Factory is a car plant at Valladolid, Castille and Leon, in north-western Spain owned by Renault España. It has evolved into a grouping of several plants clustered together on a 150-hectare site. History In response to Spanish government limits on imports of completed cars, Renault established in 1951 the Spanish FASA ''(Fabricacion de Automoviles SA)'' company which built a plant at Valladolid for the assembly of Renault 4CV cars using components imported from France. In 1953, the first year of production, 707 cars emerged from the plant. By 1958, annual output had risen to 7,547 units.
