Valentina Pollarolo
Valentina Pollarolo Guiraldes (Santiago, February 20, 1974) is a Chilean actress and screenwriter. She was a regular face on Chilean telenovelas of the '90s. Her most popular character was ''Paola Cárcamo'' in the TV series ''Playa Salvaje'' and its spin-off show ''Los Cárcamo''. Biography In 1990, shortly after leaving school and while she was in her first year of Art, she appeared on the TV series ''Acércate más'' as Catalina Guerra's younger sister. Since then, she was a regular face of the dramatic productions of the decade like ''Estúpido Cupido'' and ''Sucupira'' on TVN. In 1997, she emigrated to Channel 13 where she participated in productions such as ''Playa salvaje'', ''Marparaíso'' and ''Cerro Alegre''. Her role as Paola Cárcamo in ''Playa Salvaje'' was very popular as the rest of her fictional family were. Canal 13 is a Chilean free-to-air television channel. It was launched on 21 August 1959, on VHF channel 2 of Santiago, in a broadcast led by a group of engineers from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. Subsequently, the TV station moved its frequency to VHF channel 13, which gave rise to its current name. In its beginnings, one of its most important milestones was the broadcast of the 1962 FIFA World Cup, held in Chile. Owned by the Andrónico Luksic Craig, Luksic Group, Canal 13 is the second oldest television station in Chile. ''La Nany'' is a Chilean sitcom based on the U.S. TV series ''The Nanny''. A telenovela is a type of a television serial drama or soap opera produced primarily in Latin America. The word combines ''tele'' (for "television") and ''novela'' (meaning "novel"). Similar drama genres around the world include ''teleserye'' (Philippines), ''téléroman'' (Canada, specifically Quebec), and ''sinetron'' (Indonesia). Commonly described using the American colloquialism Spanish soap opera, many telenovelas share some stylistic and thematic similarities to the soap opera familiar to the English-speaking world. The significant difference is their series run length; telenovelas tell one self-contained story, typically within the span of a year or less whereas soap operas tend to have intertwined storylines told during indefinite, continuing runs.
