Valentin Melnychuk
Valentyn Melnychuk (born 16 April 1940) is a Ukrainian men's basketball coach. Melnychuk worked in Portugal for several years. He was the coach of Portugal national basketball team, from 2000 to 2007. He achieved their first-ever qualification for the EuroBasket 2007, leading the way for the best result of the Portuguese Squad, the 2nd round of the tournament. He left the National Team soon after. He was then assigned to be the Ukraine national basketball team coach. Melnychuk was unable to avoid elimination of EuroBasket 2009, by finishing in 4th and last place in Group C. The Portugal men's national basketball team ( pt, Seleção Portuguesa de Basquetebol) represents Portugal in international basketball competition. EuroBasket 2007
The 2007 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2007, was the 35th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe, which also served as Europe qualifier for the 2008 Summer Olympics, giving a berth to the champion and runner-up teams (or to the third-placed team in case Spain should reach the final). The 2009 FIBA European Championship, commonly called FIBA EuroBasket 2009, was the 36th FIBA EuroBasket regional basketball championship held by FIBA Europe. Futebol Clube de Penafiel ( or ) is a Portuguese football club founded on 8 February 1951 and based in the city of Penafiel. Brief history Penafiel first reached the first division in 1980–81, first lasting two seasons. They also played there from 1983–86, 1987–92 and 2004–06.
