Valencian Coalition
Valencian Coalition ( ca-valencia, Coalicio Valenciana, CV) was a far-right blaverist political organization active in the Valencian Community between 2004 and 2011. CV was linked to more extreme factions of anti-Catalan valencianism, like the Grup d'Acció Valencianista (GAV). Ideology The party, and its related group the GAV, were as considered far-right, fascist and neo-nazi organizations by other political parties, academia and social and cultural groups. CV main objectives were opposing what they considered '' pancatalanism'' and attacks on Valencian identity. This included defending the Valencian language as separate from the Catalan one. Valencia ( va, València) is the capital of the autonomous community of Valencia and the third-most populated municipality in Spain, with 791,413 inhabitants. It is also the capital of the province of the same name. The wider urban area also comprising the neighbouring municipalities has a population of around 1.6 million, constituting one of the major urban areas on the European side of the Mediterranean Sea. ''Público'' () is a Spanish online newspaper. It was published as a print daily newspaper between 2007 and 2012. The print version folded but the newspaper continues online. History and profile ''Público'' was established in September 2007. The founder is Jaume Roures, head of Mediapro. One of only two national left-wing papers (the other being ''elDiario.es''), the paper had a harder-left editorial line than ''El País''. ''Público'' also aimed at a younger readership. The paper was two-thirds the length of its competitors and its price, initially only 50 cents, was less than half. The paper's original press run was 250,000 daily. After making financial losses for several years, and facing a €9 million deficit, ''Público'' folded its print edition in February 2012. Spanish Municipal Elections, 2007
The 2007 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 27 May 2007, to elect all 66,131 councillors in the 8,111 municipalities of Spain and all 1,038 seats in 38 provincial deputations. The elections were held simultaneously with regional elections in thirteen autonomous communities, as well as local elections in the three foral deputations of the Basque Country and the eleven island councils in the Balearic and Canary Islands. The results saw few changes overall; most incumbent governments retained their majority, with only a few exceptions. The PP government in the Balearics fell, and a coalition led by PSOE took power. While the elections were seen as a first indication of how the 2008 Spanish general election might turn out, the results proved to be inconclusive. Valencian Regional Election, 2007
The 2007 Valencian regional election was held on Sunday, 27 May 2007, to elect the 7th Corts of the Valencian Community. All 99 seats in the Corts were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in twelve other autonomous communities and local elections all throughout Spain. As in the three previous elections, the People's Party (PP) with an increased absolute majority of seats, as well as winning an absolute majority of votes, the first and only time to date the party has reached this threshold, and only the second time since 1983 that any party has achieved this feat. People's Party (Spain)
The People's Party ( es, Partido Popular ; known mostly by its acronym, PP ) is a conservative and Christian-democratic political party in Spain. The People's Party was a 1989 re-foundation of People's Alliance (AP), a party led by former minister of the dictatorship Manuel Fraga and founded back in 1976 as alliance of post-Francoist proto-parties. The new party combined the conservative AP with several small Christian democratic and liberal parties (the party call this fusion of views "the Reformist Centre"). Valencian Union
Valencian Union ( ca-valencia, Unió Valenciana; es, Unión Valenciana; UV) was a regionalist political party in the Valencian Community, Spain. The party had not been represented in the Valencian autonomous parliament since 1999. It scored 0.95% of the total votes in the 2007 elections, well below the 5% threshold for representation. The party had councillors on several local councils, obtaining its best results in the Valencia province. The party was closely associated with the blaverist part of Valencianist movement by claiming that the Valencian language is different from the Catalan language and opposing the concept of ''Països Catalans'' and Catalan nationalism in the Valencian Community.
