Vale Recreation F.C.
Vale Recreation F.C. is a football club which was formed in 1932 by Wilfred J. Corbet and is based in the Channel Island of Guernsey. The club is affiliated to the Guernsey Football Association and plays in its leagues; the club has won the top league, the FNB Priaulx League, on thirteen occasions, making them the third most successful club. In the Upton Park Trophy they have one of the worst records in the Channel Islands, losing eleven of the fifteen finals they have reached. They also compete in the Reserve Division, called the Jackson League, as well as in the Railway League (third team) and the Veterans League (over 35s). The club is one of the few Channel Islands clubs to have competed in the FA Vase, competing in the four seasons from 1987 to 1991; in 1987/1988 they got to the fourth round, the best ever by a Channel Island club until Guernsey FC reached the semi-final in 2012/13. Corbet Field
The Corbet Field is a multi-use stadium in St Sampson, Guernsey. It is currently used for football matches and Crown Green Bowling. Chris Tardif
Christopher Luke Tardif (born 19 September 1979) is an English former professional footballer, who is currently the first team coach of the Guernsey Rangers Priaulx side. He has represented Northern Ireland at youth level, through a now closed loophole in the Home Nations agreement, and Guernsey at senior level. Career Tardif began his career in Guernsey with Vale Recreation F.C. before joining Portsmouth, turning professional in the 1998 close season. He joined Havant & Waterlooville on loan in August 1999, playing in the first eight league games of Havants' first season in the Southern League Premier Division. He also had a spell on loan with Newport (Isle of Wight) from March to May 2000 and finally made his Portsmouth debut in their 2–1 defeat at home to Tranmere in the FA Cup on 6 January 2001. Lee Luscombe
Lee Luscombe (born 16 July 1971) is an English people, English former professional Association football, footballer who played in the Football League, as a Forward (association football), forward. Born in Guernsey, he started his youth career with Vale Recreation F.C., Vale Recreation before joining Southampton F.C., Southampton as a trainee. After a couple of years, he left Southampton and returned to his home island for a short period. He then returned to the UK and signed for Brentford F.C., Brentford along with fellow Guernsey player Grant Chalmers. Northern Ireland Football Team
The Northern Ireland national football team represents Northern Ireland in international association football. Ryan-Zico Black
Ryan-Zico Black (born 4 August 1981) is a Guernsey footballer who plays as a midfielder for Guernsey in the Isthmian League. He is named after Zico, a Brazilian footballer admired by Black's father. Brazilian broadcaster Globo interviewed Black and presented him with a video message from his famous namesake as well as a signed shirt. In 2012 Black was invited to participate in Zico's annual charity match in Brazil, but had to pull out through injury. However, in 2013 Ryan-Zico was again invited and this time played in midfield and then defence in a match in front of 70,000 fans at Brazil's famous Maracana stadium. Although his team lost 7–3, Black scored a goal and afterwards said of the experience "it has to be the highlight of my career". He released an autobiography in 2008. Matthew Paul Le Tissier (; born 14 October 1968) is a former professional footballer. Born in Guernsey, he won eight caps for the England national team. Le Tissier spent his entire professional club career with Southampton before turning to non-League football in 2002; his loyalty garnered special affection from Southampton's fans who nicknamed him "Le God". Priaulx League
The Priaulx League is the senior football league on the island of Guernsey, and is run by the Guernsey Football League Management LBG, (prior to 2016 the Guernsey Football Association). Although the league is affiliated with the English FA, it does not form a part of the English football league system. The winners of the Priaulx League go on to play the champions of the Jersey Combination for the Upton Park Trophy. History The competition was first held in 1893; it is named in honour of O. Priaulx of Bury St. Edmunds, who donated £5 to purchase a trophy.
