Valaste Waterfall
Valaste Waterfall ( et, Valaste juga) is the highest waterfall in Estonia and neighboring regions (30.5 m) situated between Ontika and Valaste in the Toila Parish of the Ida-Viru County and formed by a stream, as it flows over the Baltic Klint not far from the shore of the Gulf of Finland. It is a popular tourist attraction with its spray freezing up in winter. There is a parking lot, some explanatory signs, and a trail using a double spiral staircase to get down the cliff. Opposite of the waterfall, a viewing platform has been built, and this offers views of the falls. The platform went out of service and the stairs to it were closed since 2013. Ida-Viru County
Ida-Viru County ( et, Ida-Viru maakond or ''Ida-Virumaa'') is one of 15 counties of Estonia. It is the most north-eastern part of the country. The county contains large deposits of oil shale - the main mineral mined in Estonia. Oil shale is used in the production of shale oil and in thermal power plants. Toila Parish
Toila is a small borough (') in Ida-Viru County, in northeastern Estonia. It is located about northeast of the town of Jõhvi, on the coast of Narva Bay (part of the Gulf of Finland). Toila is known as an important sea resort in Estonia, with a spa hotel, beach and a beautiful park (Oru Park). Toila is the administrative centre of Toila Parish. As of the 2011 Census, the settlement's population was 780, of whom the ethnic Estonians made up 628 (80.5%). History The existence of an ancient settlement in Toila is suggested by a sacred grove ('' hiis'') on a high coastal cliff, offering springs along the Pühajõgi River, and an offering stone in Oru Park. Baltic Klint
The Baltic Klint (Clint, Glint; et, Balti klint, sv, Baltiska klinten, russian: Балтийско-Ладожский уступ, Глинт) is an erosional limestone escarpment and cuesta on several islands of the Baltic Sea, in Estonia, in Leningrad Oblast of Russia and in the islands of Gotland and Öland of Sweden. It was featured on the reverse of the 50 krooni note of 1928 and on the 100 krooni note of 1992. The Baltic Klint is active landform showing some retreat in the present. However it is not known to which degree the Baltic Klint originated in postglacial time or if it evolved from cliff-like forms sculpted by the Fennoscandian Ice Sheet.
