Vaanam Vasappadum
''Vaanam Vasappadum'' () is a 2004 Indian Tamil-language film directed by P. C. Sreeram. The film stars newcomers Karthik Kumar and Poongkothai Chandrahasan, with Revathi, Nassar, Vijayakumar, and Thalaivasal Vijay in supporting roles. The music was composed by Mahesh Mahadevan with cinematography, editing by Kasi Viswanathan, and cinematography by Sreeram himself. The film was based on a novel written by Sujatha. It was released on 23 April 2004 and was the first high definition film to be shot, edited and released in India. Plot Karthik, a young lawyer, falls in love with Poongothai, the daughter of a businessman. Poongothai's father and sister run a multi-level market and are imprisoned for false accusations. Sujatha (writer)
S. Rangarajan (3 May 1935 – 27 February 2008), better known by his allonym Sujatha, was an Indian author, novelist and screenwriter who wrote in Tamil. He authored over 100 novels, 250 short stories, ten books on science, ten stage plays, and a slim volume of poems. He was one of the most popular authors in Tamil literature, and a regular contributor to topical columns in Tamil periodicals such as Ananda Vikatan, Kumudam and Kalki. He had a wide readership, and served for a brief period as the editor of Kumudam, and has also written screenplays and dialogues for several Tamil films. Sujatha was also an engineer; he supervised the design and production of the electronic voting machine ( EVM) during his tenure at Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), a machine which is currently used in elections throughout India. Baradwaj Rangan is an Indian film critic, writer, and formerly the deputy editor of ''The Hindu''. He later became a senior editor of Film Companion. Harini (born 30 April 1979) is an Indian film playback singer and classical singer who sings in Tamil, Hindi, Telugu and Kannada films, working with many leading film composers.
