VNV Nation is an Irish alternative electronic project led by Ronan Harris in the roles of singer, songwriter, and producer. VNV Nation's sound combines lyrics with sounds that ranges from melodic industrial dance anthems, to haunting ballads and post-classical soundtrack pieces. Their 2015 album '' Resonance: Music For Orchestra Vol. 1'' achieved #4 ''Classical'' & #3 ''Classical Crossover'' ''Billboard'' chart positions in the US. Synth-pop (short for synthesizer pop; also called techno-pop; ) is a subgenre of new wave music that first became prominent in the late 1970s and features the synthesizer as the dominant musical instrument. The Ensoniq ASR-10 was a sampling keyboard produced by Ensoniq between 1992 and 1998. The ASR-10 was a follow up product to the very popular Ensoniq EPS and Ensoniq EPS-16+ performance samplers, and was also available with a piano style weighted keyboard (ASR-88) and a rackmount version (ASR-10R). ''Empires'' is the third studio album by the alternative dance, alternative Electronic music, electronic band VNV Nation. It was released in 1999 in the European Union, EU and 2000 in the United States jointly under the Metropolis Records, Metropolis and Dependent (record label), Dependent record labels, labels. The album combines trance music, trance, synthpop, and electronic body music (EBM). "Darkangel" was released as a single on 28 June prior to the album, and "Standing" became a single, and was also released as part of the ''Burning Empires'' EP in 2000. The album was ranked #1 on the German Alternative Charts (DAC) 1999 albums chart, while "Darkangel" ranked #15 on the DAC Singles chart that same year. Pioneering the style they called electronic body music, they are a profound influence on the electronic and industrial music genres. History Formation Front 242 were formed in 1981 in Aarschot, near Leuven, Belgium, by Daniel Bressanutti and Dirk Bergen, who wanted to create music and graphic design using emerging electronic tools.
