V8SuperTourer
The V8SuperTourers Championship was a motor racing series in New Zealand which started in 2012 and folded in 2015. The cars were then absorbed into the NZ Touring Cars championship. The car was based on a "Car-of-the-Future" prototype built by Paul Ceprnich of Pace Innovations Australia similar to that of the Australian V8 Supercar series. It was designed to be customised to many different manufacturers vehicles including a Holden VE Commodore, Ford FG Falcon, Toyota Camry or BMW 5 Series. Testing started in April 2010. The V8SuperTourer Championship was run by V8SuperTourers Limited, a company formed by current NZV8 team owners Mark Petch, Wayne Anderson and Garry Pedersen. 2012 V8SuperTourer Season
The 2012 V8SuperTourer season is a motor racing championship for touring cars held in New Zealand. It began on 17 February at Hampton Downs Motorsport Park and ended on the 25 November at Powerbuilt Tools Raceway, Ruapuna after seven rounds. All cars use a chassis built by Paul Ceprnich of Pace Innovations in Australia, and are powered a Mosler 7-litre engine. While the chassis and engines are the same (to provide a level playing field and hopefully allow the best drivers to succeed due to talent, not equipment), the cars can 'wear' body panels from any suitable model. So far, cars have appeared as either the Ford Falcon or Holden Commodore, but the chassis are a generic enough shape that a manufacturer such as Toyota or BMW could likely fit their bodywork to a Supertourer chassis and race as Lexus or 5 Series model. 16 cars were confirmed to run in the inaugural season. Greg Murphy
Gregory Murphy (born 23 August 1972) is a New Zealand professional racing driver, best known as a four-time winner of the Bathurst 1000. Greg Murphy joined Jeremy Clarkson and James May presenting Top Gear Live, when it had its first international Live show at ASB Showgrounds in Auckland from 12 to 15 February 2009, and again when the show returned in 2010. History Murphy became involved in motorsports by the age of eight, progressing through karts to saloon cars and single-seaters before moving to Australia. He first competed at the Bathurst circuit in 1994. The following two years he drove for Brad Jones Racing in the Australian Super Touring Championship and the Holden Racing Team (HRT) in endurance events, winning the Bathurst 1000 with Craig Lowndes in 1996. Simon Evans (racing Driver)
Simon Evans (born 12 November 1990) is a racing driver from New Zealand and is the Champion of the 2019-2020 Jaguar I-Pace eTrophy season having driven for Team Asia New Zealand. He is the brother of Formula E racer Mitch Evans. Career In 2012, the all-new V8SuperTourer category was launched and Evans secured an endurance drive with Kayne Scott for Farmer Racing Services. The pair achieved a podium at the Pukekohe 500. In 2013, Evans took over Scott's entry and raced the full season. Evans would finish 16th overall, with only a single podium over the season. In 2014, Evans claimed seven podium finishes and finished runner up behind four-time Bathurst 1000 winner, Greg Murphy. Evans would then win what would prove to be the final season for the V8SuperTourer category. Ant Pedersen
Anthony Pedersen (born 5 May 1988) is a racing driver from New Zealand. Career V8 SuperTourers In 2012, Pedersen was given the opportunity to run in the brand-new V8SuperTourer category in New Zealand and on the first ever race weekend, he was able to win the final race for International Motorsport. By the end of the season, Pedersen was able to finish sixth overall. In 2013, Pedersen came out firing managing to win four races, claim two pole positions and 11 podium finishes, which gave him second overall to Kiwi legend, Greg Murphy. 2014 V8SuperTourer Season
The 2014 V8SuperTourer season was a motor racing championship for touring cars held in New Zealand over four events between January and April 2014. All cars used a chassis built by Paul Ceprnich of Pace Innovations in Australia, and were powered by a Chevrolet LS7 7-litre engine. The championship consisted of only four rounds, having been reduced from the originally planned seven, as a result of a calendar realignment which will see the series run from September to April from the 2014–15 season onward. The 'sprint' component of the series was kept intact, with the 'endurance' component, which was scheduled to include events at Taupo, Pukekohe and an unconfirmed venue in the South Island, being removed from the 2014 championship and becoming the opening half of the 2014–15 championship. The season started on 27 September at Taupo Motorsport Park and ended on 12 April at Pukekohe Park Raceway. Scott McLaughlin (racing Driver)
Scott Thomas McLaughlin (born 10 June 1993) is a New Zealand racing driver. He currently competes in the IndyCar Series, driving the No. 3 Dallara-Chevrolet for Team Penske. He previously raced in the Supercars Championship, in which he won the drivers' title in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Jonathon Webb (born 10 December 1983) is an Australian former professional racing driver and team owner of Team Sydney, who once co-drove alongside Fabian Coulthard in the No. 19 Holden ZB Commodore for the Pirtek Enduro Cup. Chaz Mostert (born 10 April 1992) is an Australian professional racing driver competing in the Repco Supercars Championship. He currently drives the No. 25 Holden ZB Commodore for Walkinshaw Andretti United.
