Vítězslav Novák
Vítězslav Augustín Rudolf Novák (5 December 1870 – 18 July 1949) was a Czech composer and academic teacher at the Prague Conservatory. Stylistically, he was part of the neo-romantic tradition, and his music is considered an important example of Czech modernism. He worked towards a strong Czech identity in culture after the country became independent in 1918. His compositions include operas and orchestral works. Biography Early years Novák (baptized Viktor Novák) was born in Kamenice nad Lipou, a small town in Southern Bohemia. In 1872 the family moved to Počátky, where Novák first studied the violin with Antonín Šilhan and the piano with Marie Krejčová. Vítězslav Nezval (; 26 May 1900 – 6 April 1958) was a Czechs, Czech poet, writer and translator. He was one of the most prolific avant-garde Czech writers in the first half of the 20th century and a co-founder of the Surrealism, Surrealist movement in Czechoslovakia. Karel Vítězslav Mašek
Karel Vítězslav Mašek (1 September 1865, Prague - 24 July 1927, Prague) was a Czech painter, architect, illustrator and art professor. Life He studied briefly at the Academy of Fine Arts, Prague with Antonín Lhota then, in 1884, transferred to the Academy of Fine Arts, Munich where he was a member of "Škréta" (Orcs), a Czech young artists' association, and studied with Alexander von Wagner. In 1887, he accompanied Alfons Mucha and František Dvořák to Paris, studying at the Académie Julian with Gustave Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre. Vítězslav Hálek
Vítězslav Hálek (; 5 April 1835, in Odolena Voda – 8 October 1874), also known as Vincenc Hálek, was a Czech poet, writer, journalist, dramatist and theatre critic. He is considered one of the most important representatives of the May School, along with Jan Neruda and Karolína Světlá. Life After completing his studies at gymnasium in Prague Hálek refused to go on to study at seminary. He didn't finish his philosophical studies and instead decided to become a writer. Beginning in 1861, he worked as an editor in ''Národní listy'', later helping publish newspapers and journals (''Lumír, Zlatá Praha, Květy'' etc.). Vítězslav Sedlák
Vítězslav Sedlák (born 5 February 1991) is a Czech darts player and a member of the team Mustang Knínice. Career Vítězslav started playing darts at the age of 18, before that he played table football in which he became National Junior Champion. He started to play darts in local pub leagues, soon after he participated in official league events. In soft-tip darts he managed to win twice in TOP tournament of National Grand Prix and twice on Grand Prix itself. In 2019 he represented Czech Republic in European championship and won the title. In steel darts, his biggest achievement so far is a victory in Czech Cup in 2020. In early 2020, he took part in PDC European Q-School, he was eliminated in the last 256 three times and once in the last 64. Siegfried Lederer's Escape From Auschwitz
On the night of 5 April 1944, Siegfried Lederer, a Czech Jew, escaped from the Auschwitz concentration camp wearing an SS uniform provided by SS-''Rottenführer'' Viktor Pestek. Pestek opposed the Holocaust; he was a devout Catholic and was infatuated with Renée Neumann, a Jewish prisoner. Pestek accompanied Lederer out of the camp, and the two men traveled together to the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia to obtain false documents for Neumann and her mother. Lederer, a former Czechoslovak Army officer and member of the Czech resistance, tried unsuccessfully to warn the Jews at Theresienstadt Ghetto about the mass murders at Auschwitz. He and Pestek returned to Auschwitz in an attempt to rescue Neumann and her mother. Pestek was arrested under disputed circumstances and later executed. Vítězslav Mácha (6 April 1948 – 29 May 2023) was a Czech wrestler. Mácha was born in Krmelín on 6 April 1948. He won an Olympic gold medal in Greco-Roman wrestling in 1972, competing for Czechoslovakia. He won a gold medal at the 1974 and 1977 World Wrestling Championships.
