''Välkommen till folkhemmet'' is the sixth studio (seventh overall) album by the Swedish pop and rock artist Magnus Uggla. It was released in 1983 and is his first album to focus on what later became his signature sound, pop rock with satirical lyrics. The album was awarded a Rockbjörnen award in the category "Swedish record of the year". The song "IQ" is a cover of Bruce Woolley's "Blue Blue (Victoria)", with new unrelated lyrics in Swedish. Magnus Uggla
Per Allan Magnus Claësson Uggla (pronounced ; born 18 June 1954) is a Swedish artist, composer, actor, and occasional radio host. He is known for his satire, satirical lyrics. Uggla was born in Stockholm. He was the lead singer of the hard rock band JUSO (later renamed Alexander Lucas) before going solo in the early 1970s. Their influences were Black Sabbath, The Groundhogs and Alice Cooper, among others. Uggla's first two glam rock, glam- and art rock-inspired albums ''Om Bobbo Viking'' and ''Livets teater''ˈ did not sell well, the first only about 500 copies in Sweden and ''Livets teater'' even less. But his departure from glam rock with the punk rock, punk and hard rock inspired ''Va ska man ta livet av sig för när man ändå inte får höra snacket efteråt'' gained him much popularity and the album sold about 150,000 copies. Rockbjörnen
Rockbjörnen (Swedish: ''the Rock Bear'') is a music prize in Sweden, divided into several categories, which is awarded annually by the newspaper ''Aftonbladet''. The prize was first awarded in 1979, and is mostly centered on pop and rock. In 2010, Rockbjörnen was redone and focused more on live performances. This initiative was hailed by artists and industry. The period for selecting the winners of Rockbjörnen was extended from one month to three months (all summer). Sverigetopplistan (, lit. "the Sweden top list") is the Swedish national record chart, formerly known as Topplistan (1975–1997) and Hitlistan (1998–2007) and known by its current name since October 2007, based on sales data from the Swedish Recording Industry Association (in Swedish Grammofonleverantörernas förening). Before Topplistan, music sales in Sweden were recorded by Kvällstoppen, whose weekly chart was a combined albums and singles list. History For the period of 1976 to 2006, the official Swedish music charts were published by Sveriges Radio P3, a station owned by Sveriges Radio. Astrologen
"Astrologen" is a song written by Magnus Uggla, appearing on his 1983 album ''Välkommen till folkhemmet''. The characteristic string arrangement was, as usual, made by :sv:Anders_Henriksson_(musikproducent), Anders Henriksson. Uggla wrote the song while being together with a girl who was interested in astrological signs. He first wanted to sing it as a duet with Agnetha Fältskog, but she was working on a solo album, and Uggla said he was afraid of asking. The song was recorded by Date (band), Date for their 2010 album ''Här och nu!''. Darin Zanyar performed the song in the 2012 edition of ''Så mycket bättre'' (season 3). His version peaked at number two on the Swedish Singles Chart. "Hand i hand" is a song written by Magnus Uggla, and performed by him on his 1983 album ''Välkommen till folkhemmet''. The chorus are taken from Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky's violin concert. The song's lyrics reflect upon the hippie movement during the political left-wave in the Western World during the years around 1970. Living for 10 years inside a flat at Västerlånggatan in Gamla stan, Uggla would sometimes be awakened by songs like El Cóndor Pasa. He would sometimes reply by playing heavy metal. Bruce Woolley
Bruce Martin Woolley (born 11 November 1953) is an English musician, singer, songwriter, and record producer. He wrote songs with artists such as The Buggles and Grace Jones, including "Video Killed the Radio Star" and " Slave to the Rhythm", and co-founded The Radio Science Orchestra. Early life Woolley was born in Loughborough, Leicestershire, England on 11 November 1953 and educated at Loughborough Grammar School, where he learned electric guitar. He lived in Shepshed, playing the UK pub and club circuit extensively for some years, before landing his first professional engagement in 1974, with Ivor Kenney's Dance Band at Leicester Palais. After a transfer to Derby Tiffany's, Bruce left for London in 1976 to pursue a career in songwriting, after being offered a publishing contract with Everblue Music, in Piccadilly. Satire
Satire is a genre of the visual, literary, and performing arts, usually in the form of fiction and less frequently non-fiction, in which vices, follies, abuses, and shortcomings are held up to ridicule, often with the intent of shaming or exposing the perceived flaws of individuals, corporations, government, or society itself into improvement. Pop Rock
