Voetbal Vereniging Katwijk is a Dutch football team founded in 1939, based in Katwijk, currently competing in the Dutch Tweede Divisie. History Katwijk have become Dutch amateur champions, by winning the overall Topklasse title in 2012–13. As such, they were invited to play in the Dutch Eerste Divisie but, after some consideration, the club opted to stay in the Topklasse, claiming the organisation was not yet ready to compete in the Eerste Divisie. Topklasse runners-up Achilles '29 were ultimately admitted in their place instead. In the following season, Katwijk failed to repeat its success, and ended the season with being relegated to the Hoofdklasse. Arch rival is Quick Boys, from the same town. Raoul Esseboom (born 9 November 1992) is a Dutch footballer who plays for Tweede Divisie club VV Katwijk. Club career Esseboom joined Jong PSV Eindhoven in June 2011 as an 18-year-old from Haarlem based amateur side VV Young Boys, but left after one season for Eerste Divisie outfit FC Volendam. Quintón Christina (born 3 May 1995) is a Curaçaoan footballer who plays as a midfielder for Partizán Bardejov of 2. liga. Mitchell Schet (born 28 January 1988) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a right winger. Club career Schet signed with Feyenoord in 2005, from the youth academy of Utrecht. He played at the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Peru, where the Netherlands reached the semi-finals. Schet made his first-team debut on 23 August 2008 in the Dutch Super Cup against PSV Eindhoven. Rick van der Meer (born 14 June 1997) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Tweede Divisie club Katwijk. Club career Van der Meer progressed through the youth teams of Excelsior Maassluis and Feyenoord. Paul Kok (born 21 December 1994) is a Dutch footballer who plays as a left-back for VV Katwijk in the Tweede Divisie. He formerly played on loan for Telstar whilst being at AZ and later for FC Oss. Career Kok did not make one appearance for AZ first team and was loaned to Eerste Divisie side Telstar for the 2013–14 season. On loan at the club Kok played 31 times in the season primarily as a left back, the club finished 15th out of the 20 team division and had the second worst defence in the league, Achilles '29 had the honour of conceding the most goals. The 2012–13 Topklasse season is the third edition of the Dutch third tier since its inauguration in the current form in 2010. 2021–22 Tweede Divisie
The 2021–22 Tweede Divisie, known as Jack's League for sponsorship reasons, season is the sixth edition of the Dutch third tier since ending its hiatus since the 1970-71 season and the 21st edition using the Tweede Divisie name. At an extraordinary KNVB federation meeting on 2 October 2017, representatives of the amateur and professional football reached an agreement about the route to be taken to renew the football pyramid.
