Vuno
Vuno is a village in Himara municipality, Vlorë County, Albania. It is located along the road between the municipal centre of Himarë and the village of Dhërmi in the Albanian Riviera. Name It is said that because of the village's situation on the hills, which ascend to about , the village's name derives from the Greek word ''Vouno'' ( el, Βουνό), meaning "mountain". History The region was inhabited by the Chaonians in the ancient period. In 1632 an Albanian-language school was founded in Vuno. In 1720, the villages of Himara, Palasa, Ilias, Vuno, Pilur and Qeparo refused to submit to the Pasha of Delvina. In 1873 a Greek school with 80 pupils was already operating in the village. Greek education was expanded the following years and in the 1898-1899 school season three schools were operating in Vuno: a primary, a secondary (Hellenic) and a girls' school. Himarë ( sq-definite, Himara; el, Χειμάρρα, ''Cheimarra'' or Χιμάρα, ''Chimara'') is a municipality and region in Vlorë County, southern Albania. The municipality has a total area of and consists of the administrative units of Himarë, Horë-Vranisht and Lukovë. It lies between the Ceraunian Mountains and the Albanian Ionian Sea Coast and is part of the Albanian Riviera. Dhërmi
Dhërmi ( sq-definite, Dhërmiu; el, Δρυμάδες, ''Drymádes'') is a village in Vlorë County, Albania. It is part of the municipality of Himarë. The village lies 42 kilometers south of the city of Vlorë and about the same distance north of the southern city of Sarandë. It is built on a slope of the Ceraunian Mountains at approximately 200 meters in altitude, and comprises three neighborhoods: Gjilek, Kondraq, Kallami, and Dhërmi itself. The mountains descend to the southwest into the Ionian coast and Corfu in the distance to the south. Nearby is the village of Palasë. Dhimitër Anagnosti
Dhimitër Anagnosti (born 23 January 1936) is an Albanian film director of the 20th century. He was a member of the Parliament of Albania in the 1990s and a Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. For his contribution in film, he received the People's Artist of Albania medal. In 2011, former president Bamir Topi accredited him the "Honor of the Nation" order, sq, Urdhri "Nderi i Kombit". Spiro Jorgo Koleka
Spiro Jorgo (''Gogo'') Koleka (1879 or 1880–1940) was an Albanian politician active in the 1920s. Life Born in the village of Vuno, near Himara, he was one of the leaders of the Albanian exiles in Greece that planned to invade southern Albania, at the time being under Greek control, while other leaders such as Sotir Petzigat Brindisi and Mustafa Kruja were in Vienna. The Albanian Riviera ( sq, Riviera shqiptare, ), also popularly known as Bregu, is a coastline along the Northeastern Ionian Sea in the Mediterranean Sea encompassing the districts of Sarandë and Vlorë in Southwestern Albania. Odhise Grillo
Odhise Kristo Grillo (1932–September 24, 2003) was an Albanian writer of children's books. Biography Grillo was born in 1932 in Vuno, where he went to elementary school. He completed middle school and high school in the capital Tirana. In 1962 he graduated in Faculty of Philology as well as Faculty of Law at the University of Tirana. He started to work at the humor magazine, Hosteni, and later at the Naim Frashëri Publishing House as an editor for children's publications until he retired, although he went back to editing and writing at the Publishing House "Toena". Himara Revolt Of 1912
The Himara Revolt ( el, Εξέγερση της Χειμάρρας), was a Greek uprising during the First Balkan War that took place in the region of Himara (Himarë, today southern Albania), on . It successfully overthrew the Ottoman forces of the region, thus securing the coastal area between Sarandë and Vlorë for the Hellenic Army. Vlorë ( , ; sq-definite, Vlora) is the third most populous city of the Republic of Albania and seat of Vlorë County and Vlorë Municipality. Tosk ( sq-definite, toskërishtja) is the southern group of dialects of the Albanian language, spoken by the ethnographic group known as Tosks. The line of demarcation between Tosk and Gheg (the northern variety) is the Shkumbin River. Tosk is the basis of the standard Albanian language. The Chaonians ( grc, Χάονες, Cháones) were an ancient Greek tribe that inhabited the region of Epirus currently part of north-western Greece and southern Albania.; ; ; ; ; . People's Artist Of Albania
The People's Artist () was an honorary title for outstanding art performers of the People's Socialist Republic of Albania, whose merits were exceptional in the sphere of development of the performing arts (theatre, music, cinema and art).
