San Juan Province, Argentina
San Juan Province () is a province of Argentina, located in the western part of the country. Neighbouring provinces are, moving clockwise from the north, La Rioja, San Luis and Mendoza. It borders with Chile to the west. The province has an area of 89,651 km2, covering a mountainous region with scarce vegetation, fertile oases and turbulent rivers. Throughout the entire province there are an important number of paleontological sites. Similar to other regions in Argentina, agriculture is one of the most important economic activities, highlighting wine production and olive oil. The 2020 Vuelta a San Juan was a road cycling stage race that took place in the San Juan Province of Argentina between 26 January and 2 February 2020. The race is rated as a 2.Pro event as part of the 2020 UCI America Tour and the 2020 UCI ProSeries, and was the 38th edition of the Vuelta a San Juan. Teams Twenty-seven teams were invited to the race. Gonzalo Joaquín Najar (born 27 November 1993) is an Argentine cyclist, who is currently suspended from the sport after a positive doping test. Career Najar was the 2017 Argentina national champion. 2018 Vuelta a San Juan Najar won the 5th stage of the 2018 Vuelta a San Juan. Heading into the 5th stage, he was in 14th place, but after the stage he had over a minute lead. However, he was later stripped of his win; in May 2018, Najar tested positive for the third-generation EPO-based blood booster CERA on January 21 - the day of the opening stage of the 2018 Vuelta a San Juan. The 2018 Vuelta a San Juan was a road cycling stage race that took place in the San Juan Province of Argentina between 21 and 28 January 2018. The race was rated as a 2.1 event as part of the 2018 UCI America Tour, and was the 36th edition of the Vuelta a San Juan. Initially, the race was won by Gonzalo Najar, who was later disqualified for a failed doping test. The result was then given to the rider originally in second place, Óscar Sevilla. UCI ProSeries
The UCI ProSeries is the second tier men's elite road cycling tour. It was inaugurated in 2020. The series is placed below the UCI World Tour, but above the various regional UCI Continental Circuits. Development In December 2018, the UCI announced various reforms to the structure and organisation of men's professional road racing. One of the major changes is the introduction of a new division of races called the UCI ProSeries. With the introduction of the ProSeries, the UCI .HC road races will disappear from the calendar. In October 2019, the UCI published the 2020 UCI International Road Calendar, including the ProSeries. The inaugural season of the ProSeries was planned to include 57 events, which were formerly World Tour, .HC or .1 events, but many were cancelled due to the worldwide Covid 19 pandemic of 2020-21. The 2020 UCI ProSeries is the inaugural season of the UCI ProSeries, the second tier road bicycle racing, road cycling tour, below the UCI World Tour, but above the various regional UCI Continental Circuits. The 2020 season initially consisted of 58 events of which 31 are one-day races (1.Pro) and 27 are stage races (2.Pro). There are 50 events in Europe, 5 in Asia, and 3 in America.
