Vranjic
Vranjic ( it, Vragnizza) is a village north of Split, near the mouth of Jadro River, administratively located in the Town of Solin. Because of its beauty it was nicknamed "Little Venice". The church of Saint Martin, the pope, is a place of cultural heritage, with sacred folk music performers ''Crkveni pjevači župe sv. Martina - Vranjic''. Vranjic is the birthplace of one of the greatest archaeologists for early Christianity Don Frane Bulić. Klapa Hurania (Latin name for Vranjic) also comes from the village. There is a small rustic villa there, leading people to believe that Vranjic was a vacation destination for rich Salonitan citizens (Salona Colonia Martia of Iulius Caesar, the present-day town of Solin). Frane Bulić
Frane Bulić (October 4, 1846 - July 29, 1934) was a Croatian priest, archaeologist, and historian. Biography Bulić was born in Vranjic (now part of Solin), and studied theology in Zadar and then classical philology and archeology in Vienna. He became the curator of the Split Archaeological Museum, and was entrusted with the conservation of cultural and historical antiquities over all of Dalmatia. He was also active politically. He was elected the representative of the county of Split in the Dalmatian parliament and as representative of Dalmatia in the Imperial Council in Vienna. He withdrew from politics during the time of the Kingdom of Yugoslavia, after the Sixth of January dictatorship proclaimed by Aleksandar Karađorđević in 1929. His archeological discoveries provided great contributions to the understanding of early Christian and Croatian history in Dalmatia. Solin
Solin (Latin and it, Salona; grc, Σαλώνα ) is a town in Dalmatia, Croatia. It is situated right northeast of Split, on the Adriatic Sea and the river Jadro. Solin developed on the location of ancient city of ''Salona'', which was the capital of the Roman province of Dalmatia and the birthplace of Emperor Diocletian. After the arrival of Avars and Croats in the 7th-century, the town was destroyed, and its refugees moved to the settlement in and around Diocletian's palace, "Spalatum" (Split), turning it into a fortified town. In the Early Middle Ages, Solin was part of Croatian territory and played an important role in the Medieval Croatian state, being one of the political centres.
