Alexander Alexeyevich Voznesensky (russian: Александр Алексеевич Вознесенский) (March 5, 1898—October 28, 1950) was a Soviet statesman, economist and brother of Nikolai Voznesensky. Biography Born in the village of Golovkino in Novosilsky Uyezd of Tula Governorate (now in Oryol Oblast), he spent his childhood in Chern. His father, Alexey Dmitrievich Voznesensky, worked in a timber yard. His mother, Lyubov Georgievna, was a housewife. He had three younger siblings Maria, Nikolai and Valentine). Andrei Andreyevich Voznesensky (russian: link=no, Андре́й Андре́евич Вознесе́нский, 12 May 1933 – 1 June 2010) was a Soviet and Russian poet and writer who had been referred to by Robert Lowell as "one of the greatest living poets in any language." He was one of the "Children of the '60s," a new wave of iconic Russian intellectuals led by the Khrushchev Thaw. Voznesensky was considered "one of the most daring writers of the Soviet era" but his style often led to regular criticism from his contemporaries and he was once threatened with expulsion by Nikita Khrushchev. He performed poetry readings in front of sold-out stadiums around the world, and was much admired for his skilled delivery. Some of his poetry was translated into English by W. H. Auden. Julia Nikolayevna Voznesenskaya (russian: Юлия Николаевна Вознесенская), also known as Julia Toropovskaya, maiden name, Okulova (14 September 1940, Saint-Petersburg – 20 February 2015, Berlin), was a Russian author of books with a Christian worldview. Biography Her father was a military engineer. From 1945 to 1950, she and her family lived in East Berlin, where he was stationed. Both of her parents were atheists until their last years, when they converted to Orthodoxy. She later studied at the Leningrad State Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography and was active in the underground art community. In 1964, she was arrested and served a term of forced labor. Nikolai Alekseevich Voznesensky (russian: Никола́й Алексе́евич Вознесе́нский, – 1 October 1950) was a Soviet politician and economic planner who oversaw the running of Gosplan (State Planning Committee) during the German-Soviet War. Metropolitan Philaret (secular name Georgy Nikolayevich Voznesensky, russian: Георгий Николаевич Вознесенский; 22 March 1903 in Kursk, Russia – 21 November 1985 in New York City) was the First Hierarch of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia from 1964 until his death on November 21, 1985.
