Vouzela () is a municipality in the district Viseu in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 10,564, in an area of 193.69 km2. The present mayor is Rui Ladeira, elected by the Social Democratic Party. The municipal holiday is May 14. Luís Vouzela
Luís Miguel Silva Tavares (born 10 March 1974), commonly known as Luís Vouzela, is a Portuguese retired footballer who played as a defensive midfielder. He amassed Primeira Liga totals of 215 games and four goals over the course of eight seasons, mainly with União de Leiria (five years). Club career Born in Vouzela, Viseu District, Vouzela started his senior career with local Académico de Viseu FC, going on to remain four seasons with the club, two apiece in the second and third divisions. He made his debut in the Primeira Liga in the 1996–97 season with U.D. Leiria, playing 28 games and scoring one goal but suffering team relegation as second from bottom. From 1998 to 2005 Vouzela competed almost exclusively in his country's top flight, representing Leiria, C.D. Santa Clara and Moreirense FC. Paulo Alexandre
Paulo Alexandre, born in Vouzela, Portugal on February 16, 1931, is a Portuguese singer. He started his artistic career in 1954 on National Radio. Together with António Sala they start Rossil records, Verde Vinho gained two gold discs in 1978 and 1979, before also being a big hit in Brazil also going gold. In 2010, Paulo published the book "Duas Vidas numa Só", subtitle "Entre Cifrões e Canções", which includes accounts of his artistic career and also his successful career as a banker. The compact Records releases a CD with some of the most successful songs of the artist. Simão Rodrigues
Simão Rodrigues de Azevedo (1510, Vouzela, Portugal - 15 June 1579, Lisbon), also known in English as Simon Rodericks, was a Portuguese Jesuit priest and one of the co-founders of the Society of Jesus. A Portuguese nobleman, Rodrigues was one of the six very first companions of Ignatius of Loyola at the University of Paris who took vows of poverty and chastity at the chapel of Montmartre, on the 15 August 1534. Giles of Santarém (Gil) (about 1185 – 14 May 1265) was a Portuguese Dominican scholar. Life He was born Gil Rodrigues de Valadares at the castle of Vouzela. His father, Rui Pais de Valadares, was alcaide of Coimbra and councillor of Sancho I.
