Volunteers Of America North Texas Shootout
The Volunteers of America Classic is a women's professional golf tournament in Texas on the LPGA Tour. It debuted in April 2013 at Las Colinas Country Club in Irving, northwest of downtown Dallas. Volunteers of America, the title sponsor, is a faith-based nonprofit organization that provides affordable housing and other assistance, primarily to low-income people, throughout the United States. Inbee Park won the inaugural event, one stroke ahead of Carlota Ciganda, and became its first multiple winner in 2015. In between, Stacy Lewis won by six strokes in 2014 and set the tournament record at 268 (−16). The Colony is a city in Denton County, Texas, United States, and a suburb of Dallas. The population was 44,534 at the 2020 census. History The Colony derives its name from the original Peters Colony. The Peters Colony headquarters was located within the current boundaries of The Colony in the historical community of Stewartsville and the site of the Hedgcoxe War. The Colony is also the site of Bridges Settlement (established during the years of the Republic of Texas and the oldest community in Denton County), Stewarts Creek, Rector, Stoverville and Camey, also known as Camey Spur. One of the oldest portions of The Colony is Bridges Cemetery, established in 1857 on land owned by the Bridges family, is found on Morningstar Drive. Stacy Lewis
Stacy Lewis (born February 16, 1985) is an American professional golfer on the U.S.-based LPGA Tour. She has won two major championships: the Kraft Nabisco Championship in 2011 and the Women's British Open in 2013. She was ranked number one in the Women's World Golf Rankings for four weeks in 2013, and reclaimed the position in June 2014 with a victory at the ShopRite LPGA Classic for another 21 weeks. Early life Lewis was born on February 16, 1985 in Toledo, Ohio. She grew up in Texas at The Woodlands outside of Houston, and graduated from The Woodlands High School in 2003. Suffering from scoliosis, which was diagnosed at age 11 and treated by a spinal fusion when she was in high school, she missed her first collegiate golf season recovering from the surgery. Jenny Shin
Jenny Shin (born 7 October 1992) is a South Korean professional golfer. Shin was born in Seoul, South Korea, and moved to the United States aged 9. She won the U.S. Girls' Junior in 2006. Haru Nomura
Harukyo Nomura ( ja, 野村敏京; ko, 문민경; born 25 November 1992) is a Japanese female professional golfer. Having a Korean mother and Japanese father, Nomura moved to South Korea at the age of five and lived in Seoul until she graduated from the Myongji High School. In 2011, she selected Japanese nationality. Career Nomura started to play golf at age of 11, and in 2007 she won the Japan Junior Golf Championship for girls 12–14 years of age. Nomura was the low amateur at the 2009 Japan Women's Open. She turned pro in December 2010 after qualifying for the LPGA Tour on her first attempt, finishing tied for 39th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn Priority List Category 20 for the 2011 season. Angela Gwen Stanford (born November 28, 1977) is an American professional golfer who currently competes on the LPGA Tour. Amateur career Born and raised in Saginaw, Texas, Stanford won the Fort Worth Girls Championship four times (1993–1996), the 1996 Texas State 4A High School Championship and the 1996 PING Texas State Junior Championship. Following graduation from Boswell High School in 1996, she enrolled at Texas Christian University (TCU) in Fort Worth.
