Volunteers (1958 Film)
''Volunteers'' (russian: Добровольцы, Dobrovoltsy) is a Soviet feature film released in 1958. It is based on the poetic novel of same name by Yevgeniy Dolmatovsky. Plot The film takes place during the 1930s to 1950s. Three inseparable male friends – Kaitanov, Ufimtsev, and Akishin – voluntarily became the first builders of the Moscow Metro. The film also tells the story of the friendship between three women: Olya, Masha, and Tanya. The main themes of the movie include the labor front, Spanish volunteer brigades, World War II, and post-war labor in peacetime. The film shows a variety of emotions: joy and sorrow, victory and loss, love and happiness. Lyudmila Ivanovna Ivanova (russian: Людмила Ивановна Иванова; 22 June 1933 – 7 October 2016) was a Soviet and Russian film and stage actress, People's Artist of the RSFSR (1989). She was awarded the Order of Honour and the Order of Friendship. She composed many songs for the guitar. Biography Ivanova was born on 22 June 1933 in Moscow. She graduated from the Moscow Art Theatre School in 1955 and was accepted into the troupe of the Moscow mobile drama. In 1957, Ivanova entered the Sovremennik Theatre. Author of many bard songs, she performed in concerts, with Anna German, Sergey Nikitin and Tatyana Nikitina. Artistic director and chief director of the Children's Musical Theater Impromptu. On 18 March 2014 accepted as a member of the Union of Writers of Russia. On 7 October 2016, Ivanova died at a Moscow hospital, aged 83. The cause of death was not disclosed. Mikhail Alexandrovich Ulyanov
Mikhail Alexandrovich Ulyanov (russian: Михаил Александрович Ульянов; 20 November 1927 – 26 March 2007) was a Soviet and Russian actor who was one of the most recognized persons of the post-World War II Soviet theatre and cinema. He was named a People's Artist of the USSR in 1969 and a Hero of Socialist Labour in 1986 and received a special prize from the Venice Film Festival in 1982. Biography Mikhail Alexandrovich Ulyanov spent his childhood and youth in the town of Tara, Omsk Oblast. Although he had failed his exams in Schepkinskoe School and for the Moscow Art Theatre School, he moved to Omsk in 1944 to become an actor. After two years of studies in the studio at Omsk Drama he went to Moscow and entered the Schukin Theatre School in 1946. Ulyanov worked in the Vakhtangov Theatre from 1950 and directed it from 1987.
