Volto!
Volto! (often stylized VOLTO!) is an American rock jam band based in Los Angeles, California, United States. First formed in the early 2000s, the current band roster consists of Lance Morrison on bass, Danny Carey (Tool) on drums, Matt Rohde on keyboards, and John Ziegler on guitars. Carey and Ziegler played together in Pigmy Love Circus and in jam sessions at a jazz club in Southern California's San Fernando Valley with Morrison. Though the three musicians often played jazz fusion during the sessions, their music evolved to a sound more like progressive rock, as evidenced on their debut release '' Incitare''. Incitare
''Incitare'' is the first album by Los Angeles based band Volto!. It was released on July 23, 2013 through Concord Music. History and recording Volto formed in the early 2000s, but had not previously released any material. ''Incitare'' was recorded in drummer Carey's home studio, using only live takes. Music videos The band's very first and only music video was made for the song "Tocino" from their debut album ''Incitare''. The video was created by artists Tas Limur and Jacob Roanhaus. Drummer Danny Carey makes a cameo in the video as a security guard. The video was released in July, 2013. Danny Carey
Daniel Edwin Carey (born May 10, 1961) is an American musician and songwriter. He is the drummer for the American rock band Tool. He has also contributed to albums by artists such as Zaum, Green Jellö, Pigface, Skinny Puppy, Adrian Belew, Carole King, Collide, Meat Puppets, Lusk, and the Melvins. He was ranked among the 100 greatest drummers of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, occupying the 26th position, in addition to being frequently considered by other magazines. John Ziegler (guitarist)
John Ziegler aka "JohnZguitar" is an American guitarist based in Los Angeles, California who plays in the groups VOLTO!, Bubbatron, Pigmy Love Circus, and is host of the long-running "Monday Night Jamz" residency at The Baked Potato night club in Studio City, Los Angeles. He was born and raised in the Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area and then moved to Houston, Texas at age 17. He then started playing guitar during college and performed for 10+ years at venues all over Texas and the surrounding areas. In 1996, John moved to Los Angeles to further his musical journey and eventually became close friends with drummer Danny Carey. Pigmy Love Circus
Pigmy Love Circus is a Los Angeles rock band that has existed since the mid-1980s era of the Hollywood underground rock scene. Pigmy Love Circus originally consisted of Shepherd Stevenson on bass, Mike Savage on vocals, Anthony Martinez (of Black Flag) on drums, with Rand "Pig" Walters and Peter Fletcher on guitars. Danny Carey, who already played in a number of other bands such as Green Jellÿ and Tool, played with them briefly in 1992, but left to focus on Tool. By 1995, Pigmy Love Circus disbanded. What was left of the band went their separate ways. Savage went on to form 57 Crown and Big Ugly, both being formidable bands in Hollywood. Stevenson now acts and composes music for film. A jam band is a musical group whose concerts (and live albums) are characterized by lengthy improvisational "jams."
